Currently at John O Groats and just been talking to a lovely couple who have just pulled in next to us. During our conversation they mentioned that last night they were charged £64 for 1 night at a campsite just above Inverness. It is a CC site and they are members and there was only the 2 of them and the motorhome looks around 6 to 6.5mtrs.
Is this the normal rate, are they any even more expensive.?

CC as in Caravan Club?

The only site near Inverness is Culloden Moor.

These are the member's prices.

the only C&MC sites north of Inverness are Brora , Altnaharra and Dunnet head
None of them would be charging that price even for non members
Culloden C&MC site is East of the city

No, just 1 night Rosemarkie. It sounds a lot to be although it looked a really nice site you could get a hotel nearby with breakfast included for an extra £10. Been trying to see how much it would cost for 2 nights but cannot find any availability.
Currently at John O Groats visitors car park £4 for the night, it’s worth far more, needless to say is raining cats and dogs.

When travelling between Inverness and John O’Groats we stayed at the Brora CC site. Economy pitch currently less than £20 a night.
something wrong in the recollection I think.

I would suspect that has been said, he's either had to pay for two nights or he has joined the club and didn't realise, because surely no one would pay that for one night without at least quering it.

No, the guy and his wife both confirmed several times to us it was £64 for 1 night, they were using a hire motorhome which included membership as part of the deal, their van was smaller than the one I have so I am estimating 6 to 6.5 meters.

They should have stayed at Fortrose Bay Caravan Site which is only 5 minutes walk away from the C&CC site at Rosemarkie, £20 \ night!
