Not quite as bad as the post above - but we were quoted over £1800 to replace the ECU on a Ducato by the Fiat dealership - paid around £250 to have it repared with lifetime guarantee.
€8000 does seem a bit OTT even for France.

Not quite the same, I had EGR problems on my old Vauxhall Meriva but it had jammed open so the car ran normally apart form the amber engine light was showing on the dash. I'll never have another modern diesel vehicle again after that thing.

My bmw has had 2 egr recalls. It seems to be an ongoing issue.
