Is it an initialism - Ay-See-Ess-Eye - or an acronym - acksee - or something else?
Acksi for me although, strictly speaking, one does not pronounce an acronym.
I beg to differ. An acronym is an abbreviation pronounced as a word.
I struggle with this one as my IT background wants me to say is as askey (ASCII) - and I know it's wrong but I just can't erase years of my life!
I know exactly what you mean!
Every campsite we've been to - be it in France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Spain, Portugal, Slovenia, Croatia, Austria, Germany, Italy, has asked us for our AckSee card!
Of course, I was having a senior moment. No IKEA what caused it.
We just say it as it is "ACSI"
Me too, but if I'm not having a senior moment it's Aksi.
I'm with AckSee, rather than AckSi, where I read "Si"' as it sounds in Simon
Whereas I think of the Spanish for yes.
Each to their own, as long as the sites give the discount.
If in doubt just say you've got your..
AUTO CAMPER SERVICE INTERNATIONAL card
Just used ours in France and the sites confirmed we could use our card...
So this is Ack-See
And this is Ack-Saw
Some balance to the discussion- a seesaw.
Me too....Ack see
Rhymes with Jacksee........
Here is the definitive answer. ACSI is a dutch organisation and in Holland they say "acksee" , but with a dutch accent.
I do believe that people on this site have too much time on there hands.
For those interested here is the history of ACSI
Akk see. Well worth joining if you like foreign travel.
