Not really interested in the, probably bull plop about new types of panels, but the explanation of the workings of the type of panel we use is def worth a watch

Very interesting John Jaws , when you think how things have progressed in our lifetime. 👍
I took the first step to the future with lightweight flexible panels, 😊 it won't belong before all these cave men with ridged panels change their minds. :Eeek:  Bob.

Thanks for posting this, really interesting. The explanations are all absolutely correct, and the graphics animations are brilliant. I wonder when we'll see the sides and roof of MHs, and even the roll-out awnings, made of perovskite solar film. Still got reliability problems, but I remember them saying the same thing about transistors, cellphones and even ball-point pens.

Yup.
Oddly, I came across a tiny radio ( 6 transistor ) I bought with about a years worth of pocket money when I was 13 in 1963, and it STILL works now !
At the time I remember the advert saying ALL NEW TECHNOLOGY.. even though germanium 3 legged fuses had already been used for about 12 years or so :)
The guy in the shop warned my dad ( who had to come with me to make the purchase ) that it might not last very long as it was so new and probably just a gimmick ! LOL !!

Thanks for posting. It was fascinating and just shows how fast things are moving.

I’ve been watching perovskites progress for the past 4-5 years now. Unfortunately, so far they haven’t produced a sample to test outside lab for mass production. There is a real issue with degradation. I hope some smart ppl will overcome this issue.
Conventional silica panels, some are better than others. SunPower with the conductors at the back, LG with lattice conductors, and panasonic with the famous patented multi layer hetero junction HIT. This is the only manufacturer that uses 5 layers of wayfarer with 2silica either side and one amorphous in the middle. It’s the only commercial solar cell that’s tuned for a wider spectrum of light, compared to the conventional silica cells.
