How do I lock my van?

Hiya,
We’ve got a Peugeot Wayfarer and at first we thought that the lock was broken but now we think that maybe we just don’t understand it!
The main door to the van has a caraloc 2000 style lock and we don’t know how to use it so that we can lock the van from the outside.
Can anyone please explain how they work?

I would think you just put the key in the slot,, turn 90 degrees to lock and 90 degrees other way to unlock.

Yep, that's how mine works. The key can be quite stiff to turn.

Thanks for replying! I’m sure that this is how it should work but for some reason the whole mechanism turns instead of locking it. Maybe it is broken, will investigate a bit more but likely end up with a new one

Check that the handle on the inside move's up and down ok to close open from inside if any snags find out the reason.
Make sure the door is closing properly.
Check you have the correct key for that lock.
Check the assembly is put together property lubricating the works night help.
But not the lock whare the key goes in get proper lock Powder for that.
If all else fails get new lock assembly
