Just sold our home in Wales and have all possessions in store. Complete on new house in Shropshire next Friday and currently staying on a very nice site in Shrewsbury. Both sold house and new house in the very low Civid areas. Removals booked for next Saturday. What could go wrong?

If England goes into lock down next week the site will immediately close and send everyone home..... No parents or family to park up with and if I did find a drive to park up on not sure that would be "legal".

Any ideas?

You are welcome to park on our drive (y)

Unable to use new home drive as it is in use with sellers cars and they will need it for their furniture removals next week. Just to add a little more to consider is the fact that we have our car with us as it will also become homeless/parkless! I am sure that I will not be the only person with these issues and what are the full timers doing? This site also has static vans with owners long term staying in them (House rented?) and they will also be evicted should the lock down happen.

Detnor, Thanks for the suggestion of the Show ground site - it is only about 1/2 mile from the new house. Do you have a number for Jan? Perhaps I could become a friend of the Showground and act as additional security!

Why worry about something that hasn't happened yet if it does then there are plenty carparks you can park in till you can access your new property ...it is afterall only a week

You seem to be worrying about something that may never happen, there is nothing to suggest that the site will close and even if it does you explain your circumstances and ask to stay a week. Remember they won't want to be closing so they may allow you to stay.

The site claim they will loose their licence if anyone is allowed to stay. They claim they had to padlock 2 sets of barriers last time and had visits to ensure they stayed completely locked down...

It is a nice site in a good location for Shrewsbury but they sure do have a lot of rules anyway. I had to make an appeal via the MD to stop them cancelling my booking made before that nice man in Cardiff put Wales in lockdown. They thought that I was not allowed to leave Wales even when I told them it was for a house move and I was coming from a Covid area with less cases than Shropshire. They are now adamant that if we go into lock down then they will be forced to close.

We're in the same boat but will need to find somewhere to stop for up to 2 months whilst our house purchase goes through. Not sure what we'll do but it's a worry. Hoping a UK site will take pity on us and let us self-contain throughout any lockdown. May have to go back through the tunnel to Germany if still allowed but not fully worked it through yet.

Just read the 2 comment before my post above and I completely agree with both of you - unfortunately thems that run the site have dismissed all my appeals and attempt at logic - they will evict and close and physically isolate the site.

As for worrying, I am just looking for ideas and suggestions from members in case I am faced with having to leave suddenly. I also suspect that trying to spend 5 days on a car park would end in tears as some official will sure to move me on and we are not set up to be wild campers.

In the initial lockdown you were not allowed to move anyone unless you could provide alternation parkup with water wastetc.
Even police couldn't move anyone but I dont think the ruling was understood.
As for loosing their licence, I really don't think so.

I wonder why they've got to close if there is another lockdown, during the first lockdown people who were on sites could stay put, two other fulltimers pulled onto my mates CS knowing they would have no hassle for a few months.

I think a trip to Germany will be out :(. From 2nd November, all tourist accommodation will be closed, and this appears to include campsites.

We've had a funster (who has become a friend) on our drive on and off since this all kicked up. He goes away and parks up somewhere remote for a week or two then comes back - we keep separate households but because he has access to our guest bathroom we have declared that we and he make up a "support bubble" to the lady who organises the community resilience team. We probably didn't need to do that but easier to nip any accusations that may be made (from the only unpleasant neighbours we have) in the bud.

Did you miss reading this offer?

I suspect that your site owner just wants to close down at end of season.
You could also park on my drive for 5 days - EHU, CDP and water tap but I'm a bit far away.
ISTR that allowance was made last time for 'full timers' (i.e. homeless) to remain on some official sites. To all intents and purposes you will be homeless full timers, for 5 days.

Sue, What you are stating makes perfect sense to me. Do you have any references to the previous lock down rules stating that you can not be thrown off site without alternatives? Do not have much hope of getting anywhere with the site wardens but the CEO at Morris Company HQ might see sense????

Any other site owners / site knowledgeable members out there with regulation info (assuming of course it will be the same as last time!)

TeamBandS , for what it's worth, I think you're absolutely doing the right thing by planning for the worst. Whatever the rights and wrongs of the decision being taken by the campsite owners, you're not going to change their minds.
I may be wrong, but I have it in my mind that Mr porky stayed at a campsite somewhere in Shropshire during the last lockdown. Maybe, he would be able to suggest somewhere?

Spriddler, Apologies for tardy response, I saw that you where in South West Wales and as Wales will still be in lock down next week I did not fancy my chances in a MH transiting Wales and the new border police!!

No prob. I was just mentioning that you have 'last resort' options. After all, you'll only be homeless for 5 days. With a good supply of tea bags, fags and Hobnobs I could stay in bed parked in a layby for that long (especially in this wet weather ;) .
(I'm in Sussex but the post that I quoted was by MH 55 FUN who is in S. W. Wales).

The government stated that “if your permanent residence is unavailable you can stay where you are” this includes camp sites and caravan parks. I would imagine the same will apply this time. The site where you are is not obeying the law.

I'm on some fulltimers sites on fb, and it was on there

Last time even the CAMC keep some sites open for homeless full timers. Possibly there was a certain amount of they had to because some of their wardens needed a place to stay. Might be worth a call though.

Unfortunately its not a site. It was with the kind permission of the owner of the business park that I rent two business storage units to store my company's equipment.
Apologies.

To be pedantic, is it possible that (a) you are not forbidden by law to stay where you are, but (b) the site is not required by law to allow you to stay?
Yes, that would be stupid.
Has anyone asked the police what to do?

Sorry to hear of your predicament. We have a large hardstanding within our garden which you would be welcome to use, there is water, electric and a grid where you could empty your toilet cassette. We are 18 miles from Shrewsbury. We are in the centre of town with easy access to the shops. Because of our ages we are isolating but there is plenty of space for your motorhome and a car. Please PM if it is if any help.

We had a similar problem in first lock down.
Old house sold, next house bought but had been completely gutted (no bathroom, kitchen, electric, gas, water internal walls etc etc) when lockdown occurred i.e, not fit for habitation. We were living on a nice site a couple of miles away whilst work done.
At lockdown we were (amongst others) given 2 hrs to leave site (23rd March if I recall correctly). Within that two hours we very fortunately had someone we didn't know take pity on us and we were able to take advantage of alternative accommodation until end of lockdown... very kind lady! We hadn't seen the bit about 'staying put' until it was too late.
We had only been in our temporary accommodation a few days when we had police knocking on the door wanting to know we were on holiday during lockdown. Aggravation both us and the kind lady could do without as we had obviously been reported by neighbours.
After a conversation with the police they went away and credit to them never returned when they knew what the situation was.
Not a pleasant situation but got through everything in the end
