Speed adjustable fan that will fit anywhere the rods will - currently my biggest sky light very near the cooker.

Very pleased. Tidy cables another day.

Shed 6mm plywood £free

The fans were about £7.50 each on ebay Xfan brand, unavailable now.

Switches about 50p.

Speed controller home made with 555 chip and TIP 32 transistor... Maybe £1

Mozzie guards are cut out of an old wall mount AC filter and slotted into some scrap pieces of aluminium channel £free ?

Room thermostat about £10

I like the idea of the big car radiator fan. The bigger the fan the lower the RPM to shift the same CFM... Lower RPM = lower noise everything else being equal...

My thoughts exactly. Pretty quiet at low speed and having tried it on low speed with vent on first latch (opens one side around an inch) you can feel the air being pushed up and out. Now thinking about a grill to cover inner side (although at 6'2" I am nowhere near touching it with my head ), but am aware that may introduce an audible droning noise.

That’s on my next project list.
I was going to use acrylic and mount large computer fans on it. Probably going to mount it on the smaller skylight abouve the kitchen area.

Clear plastic computer fans would look good on acrylic. Most have LEDs built in for extra bling .

Good idea about the clear ones, not sure about the leds though she covers up anything that glows when it’s bed time!

Just a bit of info. I have tested many many fans over the years searching for an almost silent computer that doesn't require liquid cooling.

The BEST fans by a margin are the ones made by Noctua. Super quiet and so reliable. I have yet to have one fail, or even get slightly noisy even in heavy use I put them to.
Search amazon for Noctua fans. Not the cheapest by a long way but certainly the best in my opinion and experience.

All good. Will add some of those little u shaped holders for the legs to ensure it can't drop unexpectedly.
Being a large fan it is near silent on lower speeds.

I tried this type but it buzzed in use.


But this one works perfectly (just need to pop it in a little box for neatness.

Depends on where and size of wires but these things are GREAT! Quick terminals.
