is it possible to have the alarm on the van linked to the house alarm and would it be at an astronomical cost. Only curious.

We have done it before for people, however, it is much easier to have your motor home alarm linked to your mobile phone.

We utilised our Accessory Protection Circuit (APC) primarily designed to allow you to export the alarm "out" from the motorhome to protect such things as bikes, paddleboards, trailer Car A Tow system etc, standard on all our motorhome alarm systems.

The APC is a switched Normally Closed Circuit so could be incorporated into any decent home security system by a competent installer.

I have a Texecom hybrid home alarm system (part wired/part wireless Ricochet mesh system). It's very reliable, and I've been thinking about adding a wireless dual tech outdoor PIR to the cab of the van on a separate area. That way, I should be able to just drive off without any effect on the existing areas as long as the van area is disarmed, but anyone in or leaning into the cab who shouldn't be would trigger the house alarm sounders and strobes.

I have a Growler & non-starter as well of course (y) but the thought of the combination of house and van alarms all going off together :sneaky::eek::sneaky:

And if the growler didn't wake me, I'm sure the internal sounders going off in the house would!

Just mulling it over at the moment...

Thank you but my idea is that all the noise would scare intruders off!

Confused (n) That's my idea too, hence why I said "the thought of the combination of house and van alarms all going off together :sneaky::eek::sneaky:"

It's kind of useful if it makes you aware as well though, just in case they're not as scared as you think they should be!

Many thanks again! I know the sound of either of these alarms makes me frantic so hopefully it would any intruder ! Unfortunately our alarm system isn’t Wi-fi but might have a word with the installers next time it’s serviced to see if anything can be done.

In general the only people that 'freak' at the sound of a house alarm are the house owners.
It's such a common occurrence these days people don't take a lot of notice and just walk by or mutter about the offensive noise. If I had my way an alarm would inflict physical blood drawing pain but the tree huggers won't allow that.

You are so right but hopefully at least it would make the xxxx run off before causing too much damage.

My house alarm doesn’t make an outside noise. A tad deafening inside though..........

.......and if ADT aren’t happy about it or with the coded phone call then the cops are called. Been twice, once was an attempted break in and the other was - ahem - the cat.

Dont know what went wrong there Pappajohn but do agree with your comments.!

The fact is that these thieves who sus out a burglary know you have an alarm and will know how long it takes the police to respond so if they think the risk worth it in other words can they do a search and be away within that time the alarm won’t bother them and they just break in. If response is anything like around here they would have at least half an hour to be done and dusted.
You are better off putting good locks and bolts on doors and windows and make it as difficult to get in as possible. Try not to keep cash at home and have a good built in safe, good outside lighting even a dummy alarm box.
Hopefully they will go elsewhere that does not look as hard to get in to as your home.
Remember the three things that help deter thieves
Delay them (good locks) they want to be in and out quickly
Light them up (outside lighting) the last thing they need is to be seen
Make it so they need to make a lot of noise to get in (if they have to break glass or doors).
Finally if you don’t need to keep valuables at home keep them in the bank.
I could go on and on and on but the basics will be a start (y)(y)(n)

My Yale home alarm system runs on wireless sensors on every door and window, plus a few wireless PIRs too.

I've put wireless door contacts on the shed and on the back gate too. Considering the distance, they work fine.

Could probably also add some sensors to the van doors?

The Texecom home alarm panel is excellent bit of kit and ideal to set an area that includes a detector in the Moho, you just have to remember to make sure you don’t drive off with it when off roaming. You can also use Texecom connect app that informs you if/when the alarm activates if not at home
