Hello people,
Can anybody tell me if high tail lights are necessary at MOT ?
I now have this:
Lhs light works, but has lost bulb cover;
Rhs has lost connection between engine and bulb , also no cover.
Are tgey legally necessary for driving ?
TIA
GEORGE.

Take them off. They are not then fitted so can't be tested. Otherwise they should work.

(not sure the taking off thing would work - an expert will be along soon)

Fix them anyway. They are very effective at stopping you getting expensively rear ended. That's why they started fitting them.

Just put new lights on, they're cheap & you have to remember that lights are there for a reason, they're a safety item.

It used to be any vehicle over 2.1m wide had to have high level marker lights fitted and operational but not sure if that changed in the recent MOT changes.:unsure:

There is laws called construction and use for motors on the road, it covers lightning etc and what is required. If it’s in there then yes you need it.

If it is fitted it must work if part of the MOT.

Thanks for all replies. I got 2 new lights, parallel wired one to the other and they are happy now!
