Hi there
What's the best or most recommended MH breakdown service. Is it RAC?

You can only base it on your own experience and no breakdiwn is the same . I had great service from Rac Arrival in poland and Austria.

You may need to specifically get the Arrival product from RAC. This removes various restrictions on size etc. I did use them once and they paid up for a recovery of a 1978 5 tonne Winnebago which was blocking the A26 slip road to Calais Port. They even paid the garage fees (minus parts) as they counted it as a roadside fix as it was done within a certain period of motorway recovery.

The original tow was organised by the French motorway police. My phone roaming wasn't working, so I couldn't even call anyone. Their call centre was very helpful once I'd managed to get the roaming working.

Ok thats useful thanks. Will have a look!

If you get the RAC Arrival cover through the caravan and camping club they’ll cover vehicles of 7.5 tonnes.

It may be a simple question but there is very rarely a simple answer. I would recommend speaking to your insurer and specifying your individual needs.(y)

I've been doing some googling recently as we need UK & EU recovery for our MH as it ran out on 7th October and seeing as we want to use it this weekend I need to get it sorted so I've again been checking out loads and some are stupid prices. Our current insurer (Lifesure) does it for £99 for a year (stand alone policy) alternatively I can add it to the existing insurance policy for a pro-rata payment of £53 (just over 6 months) with no admin fee, however I can get the same policy through another company, backed by the same underwriter, for £81 for the year. Hubby has said to go for the pro-rata so we can renew both at the same time which is what we used to do until we changed MH but I can't decide whether to just get a stand alone policy as I won't have to think about it for another year.

To the OP, check what your MH insurer has to offer first as I know that some people can get it very cheaply that way, if not then have a good mooch round. The one that I'm thinking of going with is below:
