Has anyone worked out how to give up the rat race, and make a living while touring ?????

If you're planning on touring in France, start a Crexit movement, that will take care of the next 2yrs.
After that you can move to Germany and start a Gexit, then on to Italy .....

Yep, sell the van... Buy a transit pickup, caravan, small road roller and selection of tarmac tools.

A trilby hat and neckerchief also helps.

Things I can think of ( but haven't done)
Any skills/ experience of job you can do purely online.
Campsite worker, possible in UK and Europe. Quite physical ( hence why I couldn't do it!) but if you're good with people and can cut grass, clean toilet blocks and some maintenance and admin work....
In Europe it's quite common for singles or couples to stay at a property and do odd jobs in exchange for board and room. I had a couple of different people stay in France and work 3-4 hours a day, gardening, decorating and the like.
Teaching ? As in TESOL.

Will try to think of more. Found this https://www.claimcompass.eu/blog/make-money-traveling/

Become a tradesman. Then you can work while you're back home... Accumulate a pile of cash... Then buzz off for 10 weeks again. Works for me

Red neckerchief is best :)

Work the summer at home, save like mad and then winter on the med , works for us

Get old then like me you can do as you please, providing swmbo agrees.

You don't need any of that you can just turn up on a piece of waste land in Spain along with a couple of hundred others with no facilities and call it living the dream. If you tried it in this Country you would be called objectionable names and ordered to leave by a Court usually within a couple of days.

As for jobs to do. Some have written books about their travels. You could of course do what others have done and work for 50 years get a pension and then enjoy life in the slow lane. Certainly beats working.

Translation if you have a language(s). A friend of mine gets text sent to him, he translates it at the taverna in Greece and sends the translation back. He has some face-to-face meetings with his clients in Winter, but the rest of the time they are unaware of where he is.

Could apply to other consultancy type work.

Rent your house out and go touring on the income.
