Where is the best place to buy tyres please, and the best all year type of tyres?

What info do I need before ordering them?

Joy, movan - just take your van to an independent (not Kwik Fit etc) tyre centre and ask their advice. They should give you 3 options - cheapest, mid priced and top of the range. You need to think about how many miles you are likely to do in say the next 7 years. Also if you are thinking of selling your van in the near future then don’t spend a fortune.

Also insist the tyres have 2020 year markings so they are not already a year old ++ when fitted as that will help you keep them longer on the van through low mileage.
get them to show you the manufacture date on the tyre wall.

I bought my last one via Black Circles.com. It was a Continental Vanco Camper, £130 fitted. They gave me a list of local tyre centres and a choice of times to attend.
I know this is not a winter tyre but I dont think I will be abroad during the winter. I have managed UK winter trips ok with Continentals fitted.
The information you need comes up on the web site. If in doubt the sizes might be in the owners manual for the base vehicle.
As Phil said ask them to show you the date stamp before the tires are fitted. My new one as four weeks old which is good considering how long some places keep the less used tyres like camper tyres.

If you are considering Black Circles and have a Tesco card, use Tesco tyres as they use Black Circles as their supplier - and you get discount points on the card. I've used them several times and no problems - thank goodness!

be VERY careful fitting bargain tyres as they may look ok but not up to being on a fully loaded motorhome. Stick with a well known brand and ensure that they are rated for the weight

Joy, you can always come to me in your van and I can let my mechanic advise ( can also do your MOT) and if necessary there is a good independent tyre centre nearby. Mid July before I’m home I’m afraid!!!

I have asked for a number of a mobile guy in Carlisle from the guy who looks after out MH. As soon as it comes through i will post it.

Another shout for
I purchased 4 tyres for my motorhome from Blackcircle which were sent to the local fitter. Whilst two were only a few months old, the other two were over a year old. When I confronted Blackcircle they didn't want to know saying they were perfect up to 4 years old.

Brian and Jo is our (MHF) resident tyre expert and has his own business, PB Tyres in Oswestry. He can, and does, arrange fitting wherever you are. I suggest a pm.

Boundary Road Garage Fulwood, ask for Kevin, also a black circle fitting centre always done all my motorhomes and electric and petrol cars knows his stuff and in the North West,

Another shoutout for PB tyres at Oswestry.
I spoke to Brian on the phone he asked what, when and where I would be travelling in the van he advised which tyres to fit ordered them in and fitted them.
Also as phil1946 said he can arrange a mobile fitter 👍 think it was about 60 mile round trip from Warrington.

Thank you everyone. Will let you know when I sorted.

Thanks. Xx

Joy, it’s approx 50 miles from you to Oswestry and PB Tyres is well recommended and has been for some time.
