Help re " Red Airbag light again " Is someone pulling my chain ? (1 Viewer)

Hi.
Latest message from the front,the numbers on the unit to be bought,do not match up with the numbers on the old unit.... So this is now on hold. Now bear in mind,i am a computor numpty..
It has been said quote. " They can do jiggly bits to the old one in the UK and America..........WHAT ? So I am asking the collective on here One.Is someone having a laugh or is this correct. 2. If correct would it be possible to get in touch with Fiat direct and order one or have another holiday in the Uk (Quick hop across to Ireland ) and get it sorted there.
Any advice will be appreciated,we should be on the municipal Praia de Mira tomorrow,but they do have internet. TIA.

I'm going to assume your on about the airbag ECU module. As far as I have read, if you buy a new module to replace an old one it can be fitted BUT needs to be programmed to match the vehicle. Something called "proxy alignment" done with dealer software.

When you buy a new one it has to be "Proxy aligned " ( configured) to your vehicle ecu.
The faulty one can sometimes be "repaired" ,reprogrammed to reset the unit at a lower cost.but usually not guaranteed.

I was taking advice from people who should know here in Portyland not

Ponteland.(.Alreet Bonnie lad.) where they WOULD have known.. ..." How can i soar like an Eagle , when i am surrounded by TURKEYS !!! ". Ooooops. Guess who will be beating a path to the nearest Fiat dealer tomorrow.
Will keep posting as and when anything happens,its not as if Ducato vans are never seen here,they have Fiat.Renault. Proton ? ( Malaysian triple valve.Not a bad bit of kit in their day ) and some Mobile Scrap !! with Roman numerals as/on the number plates trundling about ( LOVE IT !!),so knitting a new unit should be childs play to these lads. Think it works with fiat's but not peugeot base vehicles( for example),but you have to download the programme for a fee and buy the correct leads.

Multiecsan will do the proxy alignment but, it has to be the purchased one the free one won’t do it. You will also need the leads which you can get off eBay. I only needed to do the alignment because my odometer was flashing after fitting a 2nd hand airbag ecu. The guy I got the leads off actually done the alignment remotely over the internet very helpful guy.

I don't know about the airbag module, but multiecuscan can see/alter most of the ECUs on my citroen. Just not the engine or gearbox.

Fiat/ serval van canbus / ecu systems require a number of adaptors (typicaly coloured yellow, red ,green, blue, grey, they are also refered by a numbering system, yellow is 3)
Many of the boxer,relay ecus are same as FiaT and can be read with Mes. The boxer, relay engine ecus can be read with Alfaobd, another full function software for SEvel vans, i have the android version.
It is also apparent that there are nasty chinesse fakes on the tinternet that will only give you grief (if not worse). Buy direct from multiecuscan.net or distributor in my previous post

Took Van in to Diss yesterday for Airbag fault.
Had rung a week ago and asked them to stock a module !! Nope can’t do that sorry !!
So now one will arrive this week and I have to take the Van back again.
I guess no one carries stock anymore !!
Maybe I should have phoned in the module part No.. Hindsight .
£400 fitted and proxy aligned.
Peace of mind.
It HAD to be done it was on Jenny’s side..

I've come into this thread late but have the multiecuscan connectors, reader etc for fiat. It worked on my fiat motorhome with same problems but software license not transferable . I'm now in Spain in merc hymer so no use to me but back UK about 5th may. If you still have problems I'll post kit to you on return for postage cost only. If no good you could always sell it.
