Hello fellow forum'ers; my financial adviser and I have very happily been using a caravan in the UK, France and Spain for several years.
However, for a long time we have wanted to head East across Europe and maybe circumnavigate The Black Sea. It would appear that the further east you go, the less opportunity there is to park up a caravan with any certainty of it being there when you get back, so, we decided to get a motorhome to do the trip in.
Many hours of research and emails later, we have just put a deposit on our new (used) LHD - Burstner Ixeo It 724 Plus. We took it out for a test drive today and the 3.0L Fiat Multijet 160 bhp engine is a joy to drive and a fabulous workhorse.
Frustratingly we've got to wait a few weeks for re-registration, servicing and for a couple of modifications etc to be completed, but it gives us a bit of time to find somewhere to park it?
Anyone want a nice caravan? ;)

Thanks everyone;
Silver-Fox, the dealer we bought our MH from is a relatively small 'Independent' with no caravans. They are trying a few dealers on our behalf but ultimately I think we'll end up selling it privately.

Sounds as though you've got some great adventures planned in your new van! (y)

Think you'll find their are plenty on here that have been caravanners in the past, before graduating to motorhoming.

Have fun! :D

I had that engine in my last van a Geist silver spirit 700g, you won't be dissapointed with that. With that much torque you'll find yourself rarely changing down and impressive fuel consumption as a result.

Hope to see you in a field somewhere soon.

Griff

:welcomesign:We are converts too, had caravans for the last 20 years and loved it but Motorhoming certainly gives you more freedom and in my opinion even more less stressful.
I sold my caravan privately, just wish I could tow my Landrover Discovery behind it for when I get stuck in the mud ( which is bound to happen )o_O
Enjoy your new van

Thanks for the welcome everyone, much appreciated.

Our Burstner is currently in the workshop having a Gas-Low system fitted, external Bar-B-Q gas point fitted, and re-registering for DVLA plates then an MOT - hopefully! (y)
