Just been to this ESSO garage and service area fortunately in my 4x4 car not in the MH. There are massive deep potholes on the one way exit route which are unavoidable and much too deep for most small cars most MH's and certainly any caravan. I hope nobody gets caught out.

Stay safe.

Off that way tomorrow.

If you need LPG and you are on the A303 coming from the East towards Podimore the Texaco garage on the left about a mile after the Sparkford roundabout is very good. Diesel is about the same price as Tescos.
It’s far less than a mile thinking about it. I will be going there from Sherborne on Tuesday on our way to Stratford as I hate Podimore so much at the best of times!

Filled up with Diesel & LPG at the Texaco Garage that carolyn mentioned last week, very cheap LPG & Diesel compared with Shell.
Needed a top up on the way back a few days later (last Monday) but there had been an accident early Am that day near Podimore/Ilchester, the road was still closed at 1PM, and the Police made us go on a long detour around Yeovil to get back on the A303 north of Sparkford.

That spot of road at Ilchester seems to be a Accident Black spot as the last time we used the A303 to come home there had been another smash and the detour that time was horrendous taking us through narrow roads and the town of Wincanton, in heavy rain on a dark night, it wasnt fun.
Ended up getting the LPG tanks re-filled at The Shell Garage just off The M3 junction 4A heading towards Fleet, much more expensive, but happy to get the tanks filled up ready for the next tour out.
TIP, just look out for the well illuminated Mattia Diner on The A303, as the Texaco Garage is beside it. (y)

if it’s anything like this morning I would avoid the A303 like the plague. At least 30 miles of nose to tail hardly moving traffic heading towards Yeovil. Fortunately I was on a motorcycle and heading the other way.

Coming back against the traffic about midday.
