Headlamp masks for 1998 Boxer (1 Viewer)

Has anyone made ( from black gaffer tape ) a mask for a 1998 Boxer headlamp to stop dazzle? To me it seems logical that if you cover up the right hand side upper ( from the front) triangle shape on the lights that that would do the job. Can anyone confirm this and also that it would be legal to do this . We do not intend to travel at all when it is dark in France, so can you be fined during daylight by the "friendly French police"?

are the lenses glass or plastic/plastic doesnt like the glue on tape .
mind i havent done anything to my lights in 14 trs . have a new set of beam benders in the cab but never fitted them . never been stopped for it .

They are glass

I think they are glass so will not be damaged by the tape. I tried doing a search on the Internet to see if anyone had done what I said but got deluged by sites telling how to fix on bought ones. I hate to pay ripoff prices for such a simple thing though I know later projector headlamps are more complex to deal with.
