enough to know i shouldnt touch things i know nothing about ....
i am thinking of installing an external shower point on our Adria moho, the pipework is easily accessible in the rear offside locker, so fitting the shower point on the rear of the van seems to be the easiest/simplest method for siting and installation.

has anyone had experience (of what seems to be a straightforward installation)

PS i dont need any advice re plumbing/pipework etc - i have that covered - i am looking for any practical considerations of why it shouldnt be fitted at the rear or why i shouldnt drill through that particular section of wall at the rear of an Adria Moho (Matrix 260 SLT)

Would you use it, I can’t think of a worst addition to a Motorhome, we had one on the Hymer and never once used it.

I fitted one, sold it the week after !.

If you don’t want to drill, do you have a locker you could simply locate a point nearby ?. You then simply open locker and pull hose through when required!.
that was a serious option i am also considering and would just need a shower mixer to be fitted

We have another thread running about grey water on the ground, how do these outdoor showers work without putting water on the ground
lol, i have been reading that thread aswell, my idea would be to stand in a small inflatable paddling pool to collect the water 'run off' then when finished, tip all the water out onto the grass, pretty much the same everyone has done for donkeys years ,,,

or i could reduce the load of the van by not using the paddling pool ...

I've recently bought a shower/toilet tent to put up at my external shower point, it's excellent having a proper big shower, should have done it years ago. I stay on THS sites a lot now 😎

I swapped the connection inside onto the hot pipe and run the water heater up to about 38°c and switch it off, I could even fit a thermostat and set it to 38° 🤔

Apart from making a hole in the side of the van I see no problem. Our outdoor shower has not been used by us but I thought I would just try it when half way through our trip last year. The shower head had been used by a previous owner as the internals had rusted away. The problem arose when removing the connector,, it did not shut off fully. I eventually replaced the wall fitting complete and it just screws into the side using suitable sealing compound. Our connection is behind the cooker !!
We do not have dogs but imagine they are very handy to wash/rinse them off after a muddy walk,, or to rinse off your feet on return from the beach etc.

I fitted one in the garage.

I fitted one inside a locker once. It worked fine, but when the hose was detached it dribbled a few mil of water onto the floor (not good) I got used to placing a sponge under the attachment for the few minutes it took to drain.

the reason i am considering it is due to a number of reasons.

we often 'store' things inside our shower and it takes a while to get 'stuff' out - so if anyone just wants to wash their hair its a quick option and less cleaning of the shower afterwards.

we were parked with our friends for a couple of nights at blaye and it was extremely hot, it was great just to be able to cool down via a quick head spray ....

i love gadgets ....

My van has a shower point located inside the garage. Never used it in 3 years but its there if needed.
Standard fit by Burstner.

Used mine to connect to the cadac, same fitting !!!

Oh and washed the dog once.

Our Hymer has a factory fit one in the garage. I thought we would never use it but I was wrong. Use it for getting a bucket of hot water when washing windscreen, solar panels, outside table, BBQ etc.

Mines been fitted at manufacture but only used it once when I first got the van, but never since, as just not needed it.

We just have a portable shower thats used for the pooches its a bit like a garden sprayer just a bit larger its ok and handy for washing off after being to say the beach

Fitted one to our van, wouldn't be without it!

Use it for outside washing up, clean down bikes/kit & cooling down.

Fitted ours on other side of kitchen plumbing & was just careful that there no wires etc nearby & kept it in the middle of available panel to preserve structural integrity - been there 3 years with no problems (touch wood!)

Went for an internal external shower point in PVC and 3D printed a driptray with silicon tube. Works a treat - Just need to get away more!!

Just be aware that the bullfinch ones (as in insiders post #20 above with the neat drip cup below) tend to dribble a bit when disconnecting the hose, I had one fitted to my previous van and thought it a one off but have another one on my current van and that dribbles too.

I'd use it , be very handy for the dogs and when doing any laundry off grid. It's on my list of things to fit to my van

Use our bullfinch hot and cold outside shower for rinsing dog bowls, filling a watering can with warm water for cleaning the outside of the windows, rinsing cut grass off the shoes/wellys and used last week to shampoo and rinse the dog after he found some lovely fox poo.
