I came across this video today and must admit that it concerned me, I'm waiting for the rain to ease to check our van

Many thanks for the heads up. I’ve just checked mine, there was a small amount of water lying in the injector well which I have now blown out with an airline and sprayed some WD40 in. I will use 3in1 next time. Re the screen seal that needs a good clean and some clear sealant applied.

Unless I missed it he did not say what engine and year it is.

However I assume it is a 'C' Class, so 'A' Class would not be subject to the problem?

He's got an Elddis Accordo 120, 2019 model low profile with 2.0 engine. I've got the same engine in 2018 model. (y)

I was just wondering how you get the engine cover off
Me too, it's still raining :whistle2:
Our van sits nose down on our drive, I don't know if that's a good thing :whistle2:

A sharp vertical pull, it’s held on by rubber grommets
As above.
Start with the one on the right hand side.
You might also have some pipes clipped to it.

Yet another reason, IMOA, to use van and not penny pinch and think you are saving money by Sorn'ing your van for months on end...👍👍👍

Still haven't worked out how water can affect rubber seals no matter where they are
Rubber seals only as good as the face they are mating with.... so if water getting on the metal part of said face that could start pitting and allow water to seep past rubber seal.

Old scuttle shows it’s head again. Not new and not limited to sevel vans. I lost a traffic that had two injectors stuck and ripped the head on attempted removal. It started when one injector was misfiring due to corrosion, and shorting to negative. You need to get a cover or custom scuttle drain. Definitely not new.

Probably would not show on our MH as it is parked under a 'MH-port', but I shall check anyway, but our engine is a 2002 2.8 Jtd.
I’ve a 2006 Fiat JTD and this shouldn’t effect our engines, plus we don’t have the engine cover that they speak of.

We do have a small cover that sits over the injectors and is removed by undoing the 4 spring clips. I’m going to take a look at my engine to make sure, but the last time I had this off, its clean and dry.

You can just make out the clips circled in the picture below.

Just had to change my injectors, all seized and 3 bolts sheared,I found a work around for the bolts and had to replace 2 injectors the other two were repaired. Not cheap.

Don't be surprised to find some dampness there after the recent weather.
Even without the scuttle issue it's a area condensation will gather after rain and changes in temperature.
Same as you get condensation on the windscreen some mornings

Which would evaporate once engine gets hot... but then you would have to use van for that to happen and not leave it sitting around for months idle.👍👍👍

Its similar, but not the same as mine ...however I suspect its a case of releasing the pipework by prising open the clips (they're not stiff or hard to open) and then I just pulled firmly on the outside edge of the cover all round the edge.

I tried to upload a video of removing the cover but no joy. Different covers thru the years but on a 2020, 3 clip points, 1 to the right, 1 on the left towards the front, another on the back left. Regarding the scuttle on examination mine was not a tight fit to the screen but as i pressed down on it a heard a clip snap into position, it is now a tight fit against the screen so I’ll wait and see what occurs.

This is a Fiat one ---- pretty simple plastic lid and easy to remove

Took mine off this morning, exactly the same as Alex. Quite easy to unclip and totally dry after overnight heavy rain and no sign of any ingress.👍
