Don't own one yet
I do get annoyed about bad design and the lack of thought.

I'm lucky enough to have a new Fiat Ducato based van with keyless stop start, just press the button and off you go, it has a the corresponding keyless fob.

All well and good, but the fuel cap is a conventional cap with a lock in it, so each time you fill up you have to take the key apart, it does have a key but you have to push a little slide and the key comes apart. Knowing my luck I loose the key bit.

I don't really want more keys on the keyring, so thoughts, shall I just see if I can get a standard key made up and keep in the van?

I don't know what you mean?

That's a bit of a faff, what a poor design.you would have thought they would have had a remotely operated cover for the fuel cap so a key wasn't needed.

The fuel cap has lock in it, but the key is a keyless type of key. It's not the end of the world just bad design

Can you not just buy a new cap and key probably a cheaper option 🤔

I recently picked up our new motorhome , with keyless entry , and it came with two keyless entry fobs and a conventional key ( which only opens the cab door and the fuel filler cap)

That's horrendous. I'd go for a proper key cut at least as time passes you will have the leverage to open the lock.

I can understand that applying to an ignition key but I cannot see the logic in any increase risk to underwriters of having a door key inside the MH because if the thieves find it they have already gained access to the interior.

As for a fuel cap key? - not easy to steal much with that except a bit of diesel and who is going to claim for that and lose NCD?

I think that some of these comments come from brokers' clerks and cannot be found in the T&Cs in the Policy.
