Good eating on the Ligurin/Tuscan coast.

Yes, I know they’re famed for it, but this year I want to book, or at least plan, in advance. So I’m looking for campsites with restaurants on them (or restaurants we can stay over at) so I don’t have to faff about getting us back afterwards. Don’t need much else, really, although something for the girl child to do is always welcome. I’m also happy to stay on sostas, so long as it’s a only a short walk into town (only this doesnt seem to be so much of a thing in Italy) We’ll be going from Veynes (Italian/French alps) along the Ligurian Coast to Pisa and perhaps Florence, up through Modena and Parma to Padua, where The Cousin is still posted. I’m happy enough to do tourist menus and tastings, so long as they aren’t production line type affairs.

We have to go in July, no choice I’m afraid, so while I won’t say money is no object, I’m prepared to be paying for sites, and thirty quid seems to be the going rate in Italy.

We are thinking of a similar trip this year did you end up making this trip ?

I did. And it was lovely. We mainly stayed in Diano Marino, until we got possible Covid and had to run for home. It wasn’t covid, but we still had a lovely time, apart from getting horribly lost in Genoa and taking hours and hours to get out! For various reasons, we didn’t tour much in the end.

From memory, we did Canterbury, Reims, Mulhouse, Lake Maggiore, Padua for a week, Pisa for a week, Diano Marino for 5 days, then DM-Reims-home. (Don’t do that - it was awful! We’d planned to stop on the France south coast a bit and stay with my dad for a few days in Normandy, but The Girlchild had a temperature, so I threw her in the van and legged it back. She was fine by the time we got home, although I was bloody knackered!)
