Hello,
We are Lee & Angeline. We are "Go Humberto!"
After around a quarter of a century of camping, starting with our 1 year-old son and a "Relum" frame tent (in the frosty Peak District) we have progressed (some hard-core campers may say regressed) to Motorhome ownership.
I've lost count of how many Sunday afternoons we've found ourselves looking at MHs at dealerships, but it's been a few times a year for 20 or so years.
We find ourselves with no mortgage on our house in our early fifties (I fully appreciate how fortunate we are) and 2 grown-up kids (My son is now the exact age I still think I am).
I have a job that, like my previous jobs, has taken care of my pension responsibilities in a way I never would have left to my own devices.
It all puts us in the position of being able to, with significant belt-tightening, "Opt Out" next year.
My Wife suggested a Gap Year. I agreed. We said we'd spend a year getting our exit-strategy in place, preparing the house for sale, buying a couple of rental properties, making sure the kids were settled and, finally...buying a motorhome, when the right one came along. Winter 2016/Spring 2017 seemed the logical time to buy the motorhome.
Well.. the best laid plans.... etc...etc.
I was browsing Auto-Trader in June 2016 and found, at a fairly local dealership, the Motorhome that, after much deliberation had found its way to the top of our list.
I give you, Humberto...

Collected Friday, August 19 2016.
It's a 2008 Hymer B544 SL. 3,000cc, 160BHP Right Hand Drive.
I had it plated up to 3850Kg.
I realise there are no perfect motorhomes but this had more Pros and the least Cons (for the lifestyle we want) in the whole compromise game you need to play when deciding on a MH.
I hope to make use of your expertise at MH Fun (I have zero Motorhome experience*)
In return I invite you all to share our adventures together over the upcoming months and years.
You can follow Humberto at www.gohumberto.com (Go Humberto!) where I will attempt to keep on top of a BLOG.
If I get chance to make videos (most likely my Wife taking videos with her phone from the passenger seat) I will post them on the BLOG or directly on Youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCnJrMpVFLmJHGFMTI7mAYqw
*Not strictly true any more.. we immediately took Humberto (or did Humberto take us?) to a Camping & Caravan Club site at Old Sarum, Salisbury, Wilts. this weekend, so I officially have 2 days experience.
So, that's us.. See you on the Forum and on the road I hope.
