I have a fiat Autotrail Track Imala 715 2016 year 28,000 miles
Gearbox has gone well 6th gear AA have told me
Is this a common thing with this model ?

Manual. Done 2000 miles in france/spain and it went when we got off the channel tunnel this end. Breakdown were great and brought us 200 miles home on a low loader.

What's the milage on the clock? Is the van under warranty? Which break down company are you with? It sounds a good un.

Other than issues with reverse causing bunny hopping about 15 years ago, the Ducato 6 speed manual is generally pretty robust.

Fifth gear on the five speed box was always problematic, but the six speed box doesn't normally give trouble.
I would make sure it isn't a selection issue before letting anyone remove the gearbox.
