Thanks to you knowledgeable folk we are looking to get twin 11kg Gaslow with filters and EU adapters.

So far the 2 quotes are far apart - £756 if we travel south and £939 locally.

We’re going to get a third quote from Rhinoinstalls tomorrow.

Just checking we should be looking for stainless hoses rather than rubber

Anyone else worth contacting either north England or southern / central Scotland?

As ever, thank you.

Ings near Windermere are quoting £750 fitted, not sure on the type of pipes

Paid about £600 for 2x6kg system about 18 months back - Premium Motorhomes near Doncaster.

Having ours done by Autoadditions £670 fitted on our drive in North York’s they are based Derby

Gas-it are way cheaper and if you're not overly concerned about accuracy of gauges etc.. then well worth considering

Been looking at systems for our new van and this looks good deals, i know the bottles will be slightly heavier than the gaslow system but we'll have plenty of payload.

Grianan Liz its an easy job to do even I managed it in our Roadcruiser, our previous van was a coachbuilt and I was a bit scared of drilling a hole in it so contacted the local mobile caravan fitter and he charged £40 to drill the hole, I then connected all the pipes. You could easily fit a filling point on the back of your locker if you're not confident of drilling through bodywork, I think others have fitted to the plastic skirt at the rear too

Gat It Bluetooth sensor is accurate to a couple of %. Accurate enough for me!

We fitted our own. Worse bit was having to lean on the drill to get it through the aluminium skirt, which would be easier if it were plastic/firbreglass, but then advisable to fit a backing wooden support because some of the filling nozzles are quite heavy.

Once the filler is in place then the pipework is quite easy.

The Gaslow R67 has a built in filter on the outlet to the regulator.

2 x 11kg Gaslow, s/s hoses, external filler (including hose) and EU adapters can be bought online for about £540. Based on that, I guess supply & fitting would be in the region of £700.

This assumes you already have a bulkhead regulator and changeover device.

£662 for full kit direct from Gaslow. If your gas locker is suitable why not do it yourself? My present bottles were fitted professionally with the filler fitted inside the locker on a bracket at the top front. If you can smell gas after fitting, turn off the bottles and have a Gaslow agent check it out. A free service. £300 saved.

Twin 11kg Gas-it with regulator and auto changeover are about 450 quid - and they're made in welsh Wales

I am a Gaslow dealer and one of the very few Gas safe Registered ( no I don’t need to be gas Safe Registered for this but it gives customers more confidence)and I certainly don’t check or put right other peoples work ⚠️
Surprisingly many of the alleged professional installations are often worse than diy ⚠️

If you are able to do it yourself you will save a lot of dosh, if not then you could get it delivered to you and just get a local caravan place or mobile caravan/motorhome person to come and install it for you which should work out a lot cheaper than driving to one.

I've moved our system from one motorhome/PVC to another a few times now and the only thing I've changed in all that time is to add a second cylinder and now use the much smaller filler point as it's a lot easier to find space for and doesn't need such a large 'scary' hole to be drilled! Oh, I also used new washers when moving it which cost very little - best to be safe than sorry.

And what would you charge to fit 2 x 11kg bottles with an external filler and SS pipes ?

I must say, Phil at Rhino Installs is an excellent fitter (y)

The reason I suggested Autogas 2000 at Thirsk was because of their service and honesty.

I was booked in last Thursday for a 30litre underslung tank system for my Ducato pvc, spoke to them a few times before booking and the day before arrival as I was concerned about them flooding in the area, was informed everything was OK at their end and to come on down
.

Went down for opening time, discussed exactly what we wanted from the install, they put the van on the ramp, only to find that the 30 litre tank wouldn't fit due to my electric step position.

At this point we again discussed the options, we could of had a 25 litre tank fitted without issue, but that would be less capacity than the 2 x 6kg calorlite that was fitted, and capacity was our priority after spending some time winter wild camping this year

It was then suggested a twin 6kg gaslow system, same capacity as what was fitted, much cheaper than a tank install, and I could even save the £60 install cost by taking away the complete kit required there and then, but I wanted a gas test done on the install anyway, so made sense to have it fitted.

We were ran down into Thirsk, had breakfast in wetherspoons, a little wander around in the sunshine, dropped into the hotel for a pot of tea, and was rang just before 11 o'clock that it was all fitted and they would collect us at 11.

Returning to Autogas, the system was fully explained to us, including a demonstration of how to fill the cylinders from their on site lpg tanks, which is included in the price, paid the bill and extremely happy with the service

Basically, they talked us out of the higher cost system, to a much cheaper one, and even suggested that we could even buy the kit and DIY it!

A pair of happy customers here.

You can also overnight at their workshop car park prior to fitting as they have ehu available, and can alternatively drop you a Thirsk train station if you'd prefer for time in York ?

This is pretty similar to my experience, excellent honest and good workmanship.

why not go for an underslung tank and free up the locker? so long as you have the space underneath of course.

Give Charlie a ring at www.vangas.co.uk he can normally beat any prices. I have used him twice and wouldn’t hesitate to use again ?

We supply nationwide for diy fitting at approximately 10% off list prices and charge fitting fee of £100.00 for most systems fitted here with us .
Twin 11Kg Gaslow system is approximately £650.00 fitted depending on customers requirements as most installations vary a bit ?

Another vote for Autogas in Thirsk. I have used them twice - 30 years apart! - first time to remove a non compliant tank for a compliant one. Then a year or so back to buy a twin 11kg system, you won’t get more honest help or advice.

I bought my system from here........https://gasproducts.co.uk/caravan-marine.html and fitted it myself. It worked out quite a cheap way to do it.

Lot of info here about the Gaslow system http://www.motorcaravanning.co.uk/shopuk/gaslow_refillables.htm

The site owner prefers/recommends auto changeover. I prefer the Gaslow manual changeover with pressure gauge because you can use it for leak detection.
