LPG is freely available all over Morocco and is very cheap. However there are no supply points for refillable installations on your camper/motorhome e.g. Gaslow, fixed tanks etc. It is necessary, therefore to either make sure you can carry sufficient in your refillable tanks/bottles or make alternative arrangements. Here are some suggestions.

We should point out that LPG (GPL) is usually butane, although propane is possible if you ask specifically for it. Also, whilst it performs adequately, quality varies and often contains impurities that can cause your appliances to “soot up”. In-line filters are available (Gaslow sell one with a replaceable cartridge for £45, others available) and you should consider fitting one if you intend to rely on Moroccan gas.

Local bottles.

The fittings on 13kg Moroccan bottles are compatible with Calor so all you would need to use such a supply therefore is a (Calor) pigtail to connect the bottle to the regulator, if yours is vehicle-mounted. You can easily buy a Moroccan regulator should you have a bottle-mounted system, and the vendor will almost always have suitable connectors to adapt it.

There are no formalities in buying Moroccan gas bottles which are approx. the same size as a 13kg UK bottle and ridiculously cheap. On our last trip we bought a 13kg bottle and used the Gaslow adaptor hose to plug directly into the system. (Note that the threads are actually opposite but as it takes the same number of turns, you just need to “start” the connection at the same time on each end).

Additionally we have a Gaslow adapter for Camping Gaz bottles which connects to the end of the previously mentioned adaptor hose. Camping Gaz is available all over Europe and, coincidentally, the small gas bottles available cheaply everywhere in Morocco (around Dh80 = £5.50, exchange refills Dh20, unlike the £26 UK Camping Gaz price.....) are identical to the 907 bottle.
