New...
We have recently got a new to us motorhome (Hymer B544 2004). It has refillable LPG gas tanks. In with all the paperwork there are some gas test certificates. We never had this done in our old motorhome (I didn't even know it was a thing) which had normal gas bottles. Is this an LPG thing? Should we get it done? How often? Any advice would be gratefully received!

If you mean Gaslow type bottles it might be best, with a new to you vehicle, to get a Gas engineer to check the system over to give peace of mind.

If there are any leaks you will smell them almost at once and obviously take measures to remedy it.

its not a requirement but peace of mind i guess, make sure you have a co detector in the van!if you had a gas escape you woud soon smell lpg!!

I'm not sure of my ground here, but I believe there is a requirement in Germany for a certificated gas system test. The certificates may be related to that, since Hymer are German. There is no such legal requirement in the UK. Although, as stated above, having a test makes sense

Thanks for all the advice everyone...

Dave Newell is just 40 miles away and could advise and I suspect carry out such a test. He gives a Funster a discount so don't forget to ask.

He is a member on the forum, a top guy and well respected.
