Don't rely on getting it after you get to Calais as we struck out, make sure you have some before getting here so you have enough to see you through until you can get it a bit further south.

We tried to get gas today as we're on ET tomorrow morning back to the UK, couldn't get it at Le Clerc at Boulogne Sur Mer due to "de panne" (aka out of order) so drove to Auchan at St Martin Boulogne (only slightly off our route) but none available there due to 'technical issues'. I suspect this is their way of saying they don't have any.

Didn't bother going anywhere else as prices very high and no guarantee of there being any, having checked others on the 'mylpg' app some have messages that they don't have any but not the ones we'd been to. Fortunately one cylinder is still a full so not desperate but annoying as we could have got it earlier if we'd know there were issues.

At the moment waiting at Roscoff for morning ferry, called into Leclerk filling station at Saint-Pol-de-Leon about 4 miles before Roscoff and filled up with gas(LPG) with no problem and at a cost of .77 lt.

Filled up with LPG at Carrefour's fuel station at Cite Europe last Tuesday morning before we caught the train home.

Found the same thing on the way down. Took four attempts before we found some.

According to the app it was out of order on 22/4 and hasn't been updated since.

Plenty here 😂

We got GPL from at an Auchan at Louvroil. We spent 12.31€ (0.74.44) early April.
Second fill up was at a Super U at Varades spent 13.33€ (0.729€) about week ago.

Sounds from what people in France and the UK are saying that gas is cheaper in France and availability about the same in both

I think the best advice is not to wait until the last couple if days to fill up. Try to do it a bit earlier if possible. I wish I had followed my own suggestion a few weeks ago!

We have filled up twice so far on this trip , as others have said don’t leave it until the last minute.

We struggled a bit when on a village meander route, keeping and eye out for lpg at garages, but the autoroutes seem to have better availability.

It’s interesting the comment about Spain I just returned home last week I had problems getting LPG in Spain . filled up on French motor way ok
must admit got a bit confused it’s call GPL in France
I think we are going to have problems in years to come and with electricity cost going up on camp site we might need to use gas more often

Just remind me, do you keep your cylinders open or close them when filling up with LPG?
I think I’ve only filled up a few times since having them and it seems such a long time ago since the last time we used the Motorhome and ran low. Thanks all.

I have always shut off the bottle when I fill up seems best to me but don’t know for sure

'Closed' - in the event of a failure of the 80% cut-off the closed valve will prevent liquid from reaching the appliances, which could have disastrous consequences later.

They were remodelling at Easter and the LPG is closed, is it still on the left-hand side rather than the 24/7 area ?
Yes it is still on the left hand side. The kiosk was not in use, but the barrier was up. When that happens you can use the Credit Card reader attached to the adjacent fuel pump to access the LPG pump. IIRC it was like that when we last used it in 2019.

This time we were going to use the LPG pump in the Auchan in Boulogne that is on the St Omer Road. But that kiosk was closed and so that side of the station, which included the LPG pump, was coned off. A notice said the kiosk would open at 10am but we decided not to wait as we were trying to get an earlier train, which we did.

The thing I noticed is that the French Peage services have increasingly stuck height barriers up to prevent HGV’s using the ‘other’ vehicle side of the fuel stations. The issue is I am 3.35m and the buggers seem to be installing anything from 3.1m - 3.5m barriers. Took me three attempts to fill up with GPL last week, not due to availability, just due to the height barriers! ☹️

Tesco, just short of the hill down to Dover Ferry, about 3-4 years ago put a height barrier at 2.9m - 'to keep the HGVs out.' They obviously did not do their research.

I think that it is actually at about 3.1-3.2m but was not going to hold up the queue to measure it.
