Here’s something I just found out. Pulled over at a French service station to fill up with Diesel and also top up my Gas Lo cylinders for cooking Fridge BBQ Hot water etc.
There was a Manager explaining / training to a new employee outside at the next pump to mine.
He told me not to fill with LPG because it’s only allowed ( in France) to use LPG from a pump to fill up as engine fuel not gas bottles with the 2 systems above! First time this has happened to me. If he hadn’t been outside training I would have gotten away with it and been none the wiser! Just a warning to you all out there!

Same in Spain & Italy & I think Portugal.
I've been refused in Italy & Portugal.

Wonder if it’s the same in the UK as the 2 main suppliers don’t broadcast these restrictions!
In the UK I use Cambrian Gas who are major Calorie Sealers and not a forecourt!

Filled up many times in France and never been refused. Same in Spain and Portugal where it is often filled by the garage operator rather than self service.

Only been refused twice. Once back in 2016 outside of Milan. And once a couple of weeks ago in Morrisons in Hull because I was using an "adaptor".

Just go to the next gpl outlet and fill up. If the training hadn't been going on you would probably have been allowed to fill up. My fill point is inside the locker and we have gaslow,never been refused.

Were you at a TOTAL forecourt by any chance ?
They stopped allowing cylinders / tanks being filled for habitation in around 2008 .
Gaslow have a French distributor and sell huge numbers of cylinders to the French market .
Definitely not a French rule.
