I'm a newbie
Hi
My wife and I are travelling to Spain for 6 weeks beginning February. We have travelled Europe before but only max 3 weeks and well aware that our 2 x 6kg bottles won’t last. Any suggestion on what we need to get through the 6 weeks. Many thanks. Geoff

Somebody on here is selling a Spanish Repsol bottle. That would be the way to go, get a Spanish bottle that you can easily exchange. You will need evening and maybe nighttime heating in February.
Of course if you intend to stay on sites with EHU every night that’s a different matter.

you will also require a Spanish regulator, unless there is such a thing as an English/Spanish adapter. If you're on a site with electricity you shouldn't need gas. Just spent 10 days on site and never used gas, didn't even open the bottle. Heating 1500W oil filler radiator, cooking on an induction plate and steamer.

Easy..
1 x second hand spanish bottle.. Get one off campsite notice boards, or when passing a "rastro" (s/h shop) or off facebook local sales. €10-15 is going rate..
1 x "Jumbo adaptor" Get this off ebay or online at a leisure sales place.. Then simply unscrew the UK clip on adaptor from your pigtail and change to the Jumbo.

NOTE... If you have Propane bottles you will need to buy a butane pigtail..

Different make but same thing,,

Yes easy to get gas, but if you only have room for 6kg bottles, I would agree with Brian

If you mean non refillable then consider getting refillable quickly.
Get refillable bottles, we got our first ones in 2007 and at the time we thought expensive, but convenience always has a price on it, now we live in Spain we have one refillable and one Spanish bottle, because gas is cheap here.
You could do the same and just have one and a calor, but 6kg calor are very expensive and would be better off with two. (y) Bob.

We spend more than half our time on Aires and have two 11kg refillable bottles from Gaslow. After 6 weeks we had used one and a half bottles up. As gas refills are easy to come by in Spain, we leave refilling until well into the second bottle.
We travelled mid-summer and our fridge freezer was on gas all the time but we did not use any heating. I hope this helps.
There is nothing to compare with having refillable gas whether in a single underslung large container or smaller bottles in a locker they never leave.

You can purchase new full Cepsa bottles in Spain without any contract . They are around €16. You'll need a hose and bottle regulator and connect to your existing bulkhead or through a barbeque point. Sell the bottle before you head home or keep it until next time.

Cepsa, is a higher butane content, Repsol is Propane. Either will be OK in Spain unless you plan to camp at high altitude in cold conditions. I have adaptors for both (somewhere?) and a Repsol cylinder stashed in the rear shed (I think) from our time in Spain in the 90`s/ early O`s. (Benidorm Car Boot about £5 in pesata`s.) The cost of getting re-fillables for a potential "one off" trip would not be cost effective, however desirable from a convenience standpoint , but well worth the thought IF you where contemplating regular use "off grid".

BTW. You used to have to have the system on your unit examined before Repsol would "lease" you a cylinder if you went through "official" channels.

We have 1 Alugas refillable and 1 Cepsa swappable which we bought 2nd hand. As we spend a lot of time in Spain and Portugal this suits us fine. On reflection we probably would have been better buying a 2nd hand Repsol as their garages seem more frequent than Cepsa.

I have found a spare Cepsa Spanish bottle, available if anyone wants it but collection will be Cannock..
Not far off either Jn11 or 12 on the M6.

Cost will be £10 and funds donated to Jim's charity....

We do not have any of that kit. It is a different world for us wildcampers.
