I was surprised to see Garden Centres are still classed as essential and can remain open under the new Lockdown rules announced tonight . Good for mental health

We do , continually , like plant crack edsHow many people who normally go to the pub and the bookies do you know go to a garden centre for their mental health. Haha
GoodNot here ... the list of ‘essential shops’ has been tightened.
Going to a garden centre is (for most) a "leisure activity", thus non-essential.
The idea you have to go to one or to a DIY warehouse for your mental health is tosh.
Go for a walk.
Essential should mean essential ie food & water.
The tighter the lockdown, the more effective, and the shorter it needs to be.
They'll be flogging off Xmas stuff to clear there shelves for Easter bits. Most of the people who frequent garden centres will have had their jabs in a week or two
Most garden centres are just cafes that sell a few plants
Its not working though is it? Scotland has had consistently stricter restrictions and AFAICS are in no better place than England. Not here ... the list of ‘essential shops’ has been tightened.
Now with added ‘Sainsbury’s’.......(at least around here).....Most of the people who frequent garden centres will have had their jabs in a week or two

Is that Dobbies ? In Wales they are keeping their garden centres open even though they aren’t allowed toNow with added ‘Sainsbury’s’.......(at least around here).....
If The Range and B and M Bargains can stay open i should think its fair that all shops can stay open,, BUSBY.I was surprised to see Garden Centres are still classed as essential and can remain open under the new Lockdown rules announced tonight . Good for mental health
Sadly not for those like my mum who will go because she’s allowed. Then is quick to moan moan moan about extended look down. The amount of times she thinks it’s ok to just pop around. CrazyAs a gardener by trade I would class them essential for continuing my job.
The Wetherspooners will also need somewhere to go.Most of the people who frequent garden centres will have had their jabs in a week or two
My mum is the same and she has copd. She has been to Tesco on a Saturday evening because it’s quieter....tried to explain it only needs one person. Doesn’t matter how many are in the store. She does my head in. My dad is perfectly capable of shopping. My other moan is the cafes providing takeaway food and drinks, who really needs to queue for an expensive Costa latte and a panini ? Not really essential and it only encourages people to meet up and chat.Sadly not for those like my mum who will go because she’s allowed. Then is quick to moan moan moan about extended look down.
