Hi Funsters

Travelling down to Devon yesterday and all was well with the van, it was pulling well after the recent Synergy tuning module install. I managed 160 miles along the M4 and M5 will no downshifts from 5th gear On any hills. We swapped drivers around Weston Super Mare and towards the end of the M5 when we hit some hills my wife had to drop down to 3rd and the engine was not pulling at all well. We swapped back and the hills became stepper and when we arrived at Ramslade site, I could hear the exhaust blowing. I suspect this could be why the engine was lacking power.

Does anyone know of a garage around these parts that might be able to help with either a repair or a fabrication of a stainless exhaust (it was on the list of things to do!). Any local knowledge or guidance would be welcomed.

TIA

Darren

Sorry Darren, I'm not able to help, but hopefully bumping your thread to the top of the page might summon some for you.

Good luck getting sorted. 👍

Jock. :)

Edit...Just seen John's post. (y)

Any black smoke? Split turbo hose?

I agree, sounds more like a turbo hose. A blown exhaust would not normally result in drastic loss of power.

Could be a coincidence that the exhaust is blowing then, will check hoses

So I can’t see any split hoses going to and from the inter cooler? Will check some local garages tomorrow, time for bbq and beer

Probably no help whatsoever but I once got called out to a Ranger over with a similar problem.
The filter box to turbo hose had delaminated on the inside and was restricting airflow.
Rubber hoses are usually two skins, one inside the other with reinforcing cords between.

years ago i had a car with a big bore silencer, one day it suddenly lost power, took it to a garage but they could not find anything wrong eventually worked out that a baffle in the silencer had come loose and was blocking the exhaust flow, hit the silencer with a hammer and power was restored for a few hundred yards till the baffle moved again so fitted a new silencer and all was well
