It would be nice to grow this list. If you know of anyone anywhere we might have a CL do let me know (y)

I have stayed at the Sir Walter Tyrell, Melanie the Landlady is amazing, as it the location in the heart of the New Forrest, yet just half a mile off of the main road, A31.

Our camper is as wide, as is legal in the UK, about 3.7m high, so if the access is easy for us, it should be fine for anyone

CL is great, but has the huge advantage as far as we are concerned is an amazing pub on site, great local ales, great food and amazing walks

The pub is also very doggy friendly, but has a dog free section for those that don’t like dogs

We will be regular visitors

Pity we didn't know about this a day or two ago as have just booked and paid for 3 nights at Setthorn next week . Next time perhaps

Stayed at the SWT loads of times when it was a BritStop - Still is during the Winter I think. :cautious: The landlord is relatively new and he was saying that they were re-doing the campsite as it still had access etc. Jane and I were only just talking about it this weekend as we are in the New Forest all the time.(y) Ocknell, where we were, is only a short ish walk across the Forest to the SWT.
I would suggest you only gain access from the A31 - Rufus Stone, as the Forest roads are really narrow.

Jim Any chance of an up-to-date list of MHFun authorised CLs please? The listing at the start of this thread is still showing Mo & Judy at Haughton and I wondered if there are any new additions. Apologies if I have missed a more recent posting elsewhere on the website.

What’s the charge to register and does MHF insist on exclusive occupation by members?

Yaaay nice to see you finally managed to get a Scottish one, Jedburgh is nice.(y) Any link to prices or contact tel numbers?

Will give it a visit next time we are at Hawick.

Trying to get my head around this. Are most of these sites on or attached to pubs???????
Are any fully serviced????

What are the requirements to be a funster CL in terms of facilities and process please? Where can I find that information please?

Requirements are simple

You have some land large enough to park up to 5 vans with at least 6m between vans
The access and egress is safe
You have some insurance (we help there)
The land is situated that will not upset neighbours (though we appreciate some neighbours will moan unreasonably)

We approve (or not) and issue an exemption

After that its up to you if you want to provide the following, entirely optional, extras

Fresh water
Elsan disposal point
Rubbish bins
A tested Electricity supply.

We provide an exemption certificate on an annual basis.

Wasn't aware of all these so good to know (y) Would be great to have more CLs & contact, facilities, local info. & photos on each one - maybe those visiting could post about them as they have about Jasmine & Woodside?

More info on number 7 would be great, couldn’t find much on google.

Jim, can you advise on the insurance issue, cost etc. please. Its not for me but around where i live there are a couple of farms, rural private garden centres that would prob make nice little CL's and i am happy to go an approach them to see if its something they might consider

You can get insurance via the same company that insures the camping and caravan club CSs, they cover independent CLs at a reasonable price (i forget what it is)

Hi Jim how about a tab at the top FCL sites? it’s bound to grow. I hope that it’s the thin end of the wedge. And we get many more. Well done to all CL site owners✅✅✅
