The fridge turns off when travelling which is what they told me but is there a way to keep it running

Ever since lighting was by Calor gas.
It seems you don't have a manual for it.
There's a generic Chausson manual in the link below. Fridge operation page 26 et sub.
The fridge will only operate on 12v whilst the engine is running to supply the power. If you were to try to run the fridge from the 12v battery without the engine running it would go flat in a couple of hours (or poss sooner).

On gas no. The air passing over the vents will blow the flame out.
Exactly, but would auto-ignite......that's the purpose of a Thermocouple. However this in itself is a major issue, the action of the pilot lighting could cause an explosion if, for example it was to happen in a filling station where there is a presence of petrol or LPG, it is therefore wise to run the Fridge on 12v....just a thought.

Switch it to automatic (looks like an A on a dometic fridge control panel) and it should change itself to which ever energy is available ie gas 12v or electric. It turns off for a while for safety reasons when you stop in case you're filling up at a fuel station.
