The fridge turns off when travelling which is what they told me but is there a way to keep it running

On gas no. The air passing over the vents will blow the flame out.
Exactly, but would auto-ignite......that's the purpose of a Thermocouple. However this in itself is a major issue, the action of the pilot lighting could cause an explosion if, for example it was to happen in a filling station where there is a presence of petrol or LPG, it is therefore wise to run the Fridge on 12v....just a thought.

Fridge does seam to work on 12v either ?

Switch it to automatic (looks like an A on a dometic fridge control panel) and it should change itself to which ever energy is available ie gas 12v or electric. It turns off for a while for safety reasons when you stop in case you're filling up at a fuel station.
