Sat as I am in the shade with a beer in hand under my awning looking at the two outside vents behind my fridge . It occurs to me , should they be taken off and the back of the Fridge cleared periodically and if so how easy it to remove them.

Use a coin or a non intelligent key (ie don't risk your van key - just in case) then slip the two sliders - easy squeezy. Never cleaned anything.

Yep pop them off for a clean occasionally and a spray of ACF50 to stop corrosion. I also pop mine off in really hot days like today.

Jewellbags vents are removed by sliding the two clips located on the top row of the vent, then pull the vent from the top to remove.

When refitting, put the bottom on first and lightly press upwards to ensure the bottom lugs are fully located, then slide the top clips until they click home.

If this is the first time the vent covers have been removed you may find there is excesses sealant holding them on, remove this before refitting.

Just for clarity...
Are we talking about removing what I would call the grill [top half of pic]
or what I'd call the cover [bottom half of photo]

...and if the grill/vent - why would you?

That’s a great detailed reply but be aware that there’s more than one fitment type.
Ours have simple screws on the left side and when turned with a penny or wide flat blade to undo, the vent assembly unclips left side 1st, then right side. 👍🏻
Could be an age thing. Our van is ~14yo with a Dometic fridge.

For access to the area behind to be “cleared periodically” 👍🏻😃
Or later to fit extra fans for cooling if outside is 30deg

kevenh thanks however Jewellbags has a Chausson which is very similar to mine so the detail is applicable to his model.

Excellent response thanks . And yes kevenh is bang on with the description of the vents . My fridge seems to be holding up well in the heat (mind you I’ve kept that side shaded) . When it’s next switched off I’ll clean it up - thanks all

Do you reseal after as well ?

No, if there is any excess sealant its just what's left over from fitting the vent frames at the factory.

No don’t seal them as they sit in “their“ frame.

Mine now. In a hot France.

38 degrees currently. Not a cloud in the sky 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻

Now got the awning out so fridge doing it’s job, but only got small beers, so door keeps being opened. May give it a rest later, and swap to red wine.
