Fridge on gas turns off

Last day of holiday to France, so parked up on an Aire without electric hookup. Fridge has behaved for 10 weeks on hookup and while driving (on 12v) but runs for 3 or 4 minute on gas then switches off.
Plenty of gas at the hob, so has anyone any obvious explanations
