Fridge on 12 volt drains vehicle battery

Good afternoon
Twice I have realised that that the van fridge on 12 volt drains the vehicle battery . Once the RAC rescued me
Any thoughts for a simple solution or maybe a trip to a vehicle electrician
Enjoy the sunshine while it last

The fridge should not run off the vehicle 12v unless the engine is running.

Could be the relay has welded closed or it was never wired correctly in the first place.
As already said......the fridge should only run on the starter battery with the engine running via the relay.
