Trying to get van ready but need to finish the MH1210A stat mod for cooling fan control on my 3 way fridge . Appreciate the advice given but a bit confused as to where to site the probe. At moment I have fixed it inside fridge as suggested but now recommended to fix at rear of fridge above cooling fins.I have a fan blowing out of top vent and one pointing up blowing in behind bottom vent. Thanks again for advice.

It needs to be above the cooling fins, you only fit one inside if you have a fan inside the fridge.

used some r/a alloy to mount mine.

Thanks- was told that by Tonyidle but needed to be 100% sure before putting together. How did you secure probe on the alloy?

Sorry if I confused you! My reading of your initial post was that you wanted to control the temp of the fridge, not fridge fans.

I agree with Tony & Lenny that, as it is the air flowing over the cooling fins that you are wanting to cool, then the temperature probe needs to be reading the temp of the air.

Hot air rises, so site the probe somewhere above the cooling fins.

Watch you dont cause a "rattle" when you fix it :giggle:

Commercial systems sometimes control condenser fan speed with temperature but the sensor is always clipped to the liquid line or near the condenser outlet. It makes sense because that's what the fan is for, to cool the refrigerant and condense it back to a liquid, doesn't matter what the air temperature is.
My sensor is in the fins at the condenser outlet and set to 41°c.

I suppose it doesn't matter as much on a van fridge that's designed to work without a fan anyway.

Thanks have fixed probe just above the "fins" at back of fridge got to work out how to set it now!

Gromett - I'm sure you was tinkering with a potentially cool fridge cooling gadget some time back - and mentioned that you'd put the details on here - parts / setup etc.

Has that project been shelved?.. ? ?

Situation changed for me. I ended up with a trailer with a freezer in it...

That is going though, so will probably re-open this project.

Lenny HB Not sure I understand this pic. Have you cut out apertures in the fridge vent?
