Hi. Just wondering if, when travelling on French toll roads can I use my car tag in my motorhome.
Will the system know I'm in a larger vehicle and charge accordingly? or will it just charge me for class 1?

Yes you can as long as your motorhome is under 3500kgs
It will charge the Motorhome rate though.

I keep wondering whether my 2019 Sanef Tag will still work, assuming I can go to France in 2022 (my current aspiration).

How long do these tag gizmos last? Will I need a new one?

They remind you when it's due for new battery if I remember correctly you pay for a new one and they then credit you when you send the old one back

My understanding is that Class 1 should fit under the 2 metre height barrier ;)

I have used my tag in my sons car and my motorhome with no issues,. The scanners at the toll read the hight and charge accordingly.
But if you are over 3.5t then the tag should not be used 🙄

As others have said ,
Yes you can
We regularly swap our from a small fiat to the the van .

Thanks to everyone for your replies.
Our motorhome is a tag axle 4.5t.
So me thinks, I'll forget the toll tag and use the normal booths. At least we can challenge the rate before payment. Usually get away with class 2.

The problem with that is you don’t always have a human at the booth, and if the auto system thing you are a hgv that is what you will be charged as. With a tag it can only charge you the maxim of group 2, which is the correct group for up to 3.5t

If you have a Autotrail which is 3.03 m high you will get charged class 3 on height. The only way round it is to press the assistance button & shout camping car class 2 enough times & they will reduce the class to get rid of you even though you are actually class 3. Alternatively you can do what we now do & stay off the page.

We very often get classed as class 4 at auto booths but always been able to get away with class 2 after pressing assistance button.
Only had to pay class 4 at the Millau bridge. We tried to get away with class 2 but the lady on the intercom said no. We challenged her. She said "one moment" she marched from the office to us. She stood at the side of the van, counted the axles and said- 1,2,3, class 4, pointed at the screen and said "you pay class 4" and marched back. We had no alternative. That was an expensive one.
