Got to pick daughter up from M/Airport at 1.00 Tues morning --unfortunately there are no trains until 6.00 am.Is there any way to avoid the extortionate pick up prices ?Don't mind walking a bit and shes only got a small travel case with her .Have tried Thorley Lane (old Jetpark) but its only for dropping off and told that a fine is issued for using bus from airport back to park .

It's about £3 to park up for 15 mins in the pick up area, if you wait outside, down the road and go in when they call you, that's All you will pay.

Bl***y rip off
Double yellows all around the airport, cameras galore, and if you try to pick up at the departure side its a minimum £100 fine.
£3 is cheaper than a fine or a long long walk. (y)

Just don't agree with the RIP-OFF -its not just the money! Personally wont use Manchester -its badly disorganised-nearly missed flight a big group of us just because no staff could direct us-or couldn't care.

Bloody nightmare Man airport
My usual waiting place to pick up daughter no longer exists. Ended up waiting on a road for several minutes until I spotted a camera, and now in fear of what will drop on the doormat.
Next time I'll pay to use the pick up but I strongly resent it.

You could always ask her to wait until the trains start at 6am, pay £5 for a ticket to get to somewhere you can pick her up for free, or just pay £3 to pick her up at the airport.

It sucks, that's life but it's probably the cheapest option. There's not really anywhere you could park and walk in within a reasonable distance.

Do they give free parking in the long stay like Gatwick. You get 2 hours free and the free shuttle bus.

I picked my son up from Manchester last year and was sure it was £3,but see it has increased to £4.5,but for 30 mins.
When I dropped him off it was £3,but grandson had left his phone in the car so had to go back Round, another£3, I see now that there is a £25, addtional charge now for that and they recommend going to the pick up area insead. But still £4.5.

I might be way wrong but I am sure there is a free park and ride just before you get in, you wait in there and they catch a shutt bus to you.
This also works at East miss where I have actually done it.

According to the "rules", that is not permitted and subject to a fine at Manchester. Or so I read.

Cost Me £12 (twice) to collect grand-kids from and re-deliver to Manchester 2017. ALL these airport pick-up drop off are a Total RIP OFF.!! Before they closed it. I used to park behind the Garage by T-1, it being owned by the fuel company they, airport security, could not do anything about it, especially if you went in put a couple of gallons in and then went and checked all you tyres, oil and water etc, just to kill time, most of the Taxis drivers also did it!.

Its to force you to use public transport but try getting a train in the early hours. More often than not they are late or cancelled . We only live 8 miles away cost us a fortune as son works abroad every three weeks so we always there.

Good luck trying to find somewhere to wait... maybe drop off the M56 at the junction before and find a garage / cafe to avoid getting stuck...

Elderly/Disabled (or both) passengers with bags on PUBLIC transport?. Yeah, I can really see that happening!. Most people I know going via Manchester Book an "Airport" cab!.

I have parked along the Styall Mill Road when collecting from an early flight, just along Styall Road past the garage and car parks. Waited for a call to say they had cleared customs then picked up.

I picked my son up, waited out side for a text then picked him up at petrol station near arrivals

There's an Asda superstore at wythenshawe, not far from that junction, must be a place to park up at, then drive in when phoned or she could get a taxi to you, probably cost about the same, look on google maps.

Its £4.50 at T1
May be a bit cheaper at T3.

Its a big rip off and can cause chaos. On Saturday when we flew in. Only on of the three exit barriers was working at T1.

We waited over and hour for our usual Taxi company to come. But with the M60 Flooded (IN THE SAME PLACE ALWAYS HAS SINCE IT BECAME A RING ROAD). The delay was too much. There is not one single shelter from the rain at the pick up points. My Nephew came in the end.

Manchester airport and the infrastructure around it is a dump. The refurbishment of the Airport is long overdue. But they could at least try and keep it clean whilst they are doing it.

Who knows what business investors and travellers must think.

Have they still not finished the Works on T1 then?. It was a right mess back in June 2018.?

There's continual work going on with road layout changes, it's seems to be different every time I go.
I'm still dreading what will fall on the door mat after picking daughter up week last Friday and stopping briefly on one of the approach roads.

That happened to me at Humberside, SWMBO was driving we stopped in a bus stop bay, put the grandsons two bags in the car and he got in and we drove off. 34 seconds. on the ticket.!. Wrote to them, said take me to court and we will see what the judge has to say. They dropped it!.

I drop off & pick up at whatever terminal wife & daughter's use at Heathrow, in the motorhome. It would never occur to me to park in some obscure spot, or have to pay for the privelige. I've even dropped off nephew' wife & his sister using an aric. I expect to be able to pick up drop off & shop where I want not miles away.
Personally I'd take the number plates off & run in as it is far cheaper + no points than give anything to the scum trying to exhort "payments" for not providing any sort of service on roads already paid for, & continuing to be paid for by the taxpayer & which the airport should be paying towards for allowing them to use it for customers.
