Now France is open for travel and Covid figures appeared to have peaked are Motorhomers heading for Spain Portugal. Hope so because we are over there and they could do with some returning loyalty. Every where is quiet, even that barometer of Brits abroad Benidorm. Forget all the tales that the Europeans are filling our vacant camping site places, that is a fallacy, we have been speaking to some German and Dutch motorhomers and they are still behind the UK on vacinations apparrantly and some were still on some sort of restriction. Speaking to some site receptionists they think the 90 day rule is having a big effect because of the amount of long termers not coming over. Oh by the way the weather has been great for January, some overnight frosts but warm and sunny out of the cool breeze!

We are in Aguilas before that Mazarrón it’s rammed all sites full, motorhomes parked up in streets and every bit of waste land that is available mostly French and Dutch. Not many British vans about only 4 on the site we are on. Girl in office said they have been full since beginning of November.

Never stopped going,,Managed one trip in 2020 and two in 2021...BUSBY.

I am a on a site in Los Alcazares(Murcia) and its mobbed and has been since i got here the middle of December. There is plenty vans from Germany ,France ,Sweden,Austria, Netherlands and uk .Some people on here have stayed extra weeks because they cannot find spaces in campsite to move further south , on calling they have no spaces. So it,s obviously different here than where you are in Spain, but no shortage of vans here..

Cheers Cris

PS, and there is plenty vans wildcamping in the area also.

Our ferry was very busy so was surprised how quiet it was around us so its good to know its busy elsewhere. Maybe its because Benidorm is more reliant on Brits its quieter. The sites and aires around seem to be getting busier though now Xmas is over and travel thru France is getting easier.

Just this very minute got on boat at Portsmouth to Santander and it’s absolutely mobbed. Motorhomes queueing to the main rd but we are on and in the bar so happy days 😂
May I ask you, what overnight stopovers you had on route to the ferry?

as I am driving from Ayr to Portsmouth next week, any advice welcome!
Kind regards,
Leo

We stayed on the ferry port night before ferry, they let you stay after last ferry departed. We got there at 11.30pm and there must have been over 50 motorhomes and caravans parked up before we got there.

If you need somewhere to stay when you land in the Portsmouth area, you can't do better than Port Solent.
It's within 10mins of the ferry port, has no restrictions as to parking and has restaurants ie Wetherspoons, Harvester etc.

I know It's a bit early to plan but we are thinking Spain next winter. We have never been with a motorhome and are planning on leaving on Boxing Day (Thats when our 90 days home ends) going for a few months and driving down through France.

Can you give any recommended sites we could look at in advance.

A friends brother lives near Aguilas and recommends the area so thinking somewhere between there and Gibraltar possibly I'm assuming the weather is better the further you go but just starting to research so unsure as yet.

Many thanks in advance
