according to the FCO website (France section) this evening...

"Arrivals from the UK...are asked to self-isolate for 14 days on arrival in mainland France"

so the FCO has lifted its 'all but essential travel' advice but officially i still need to isolate when i get there?

i'm travelling from UK to France to Spain and back to UK in August

Spain looks good to go, but i hope france removes the self isolation thing before i leave?

also...because the FCO has lifted its 'all but essential travel' my travel insurance is now valid again (?)

It's just voluntary in France, its not a legal requirement. (y)

An awful lot can change by the time you set off if you don’t leave till August 👍

Its not just that its voluntary, it doesn't exist at all. Many of us are out here and the French dont even know about this.
Either the FCO just made it up or they are just badly informed. A bit like the statement the tunnel website says you must print and sign. We tried giving it to all the officials at the tunnel, nobody wanted it.

We came through the tunnel yesterday, wasn't even mentioned.

Le crotoy is very full, more than half of the restaurants open although none particularly busy.

Yes we came through yesterday absolutely nothing mentioned and no paper work required. We're heading to le crotoy tomorrow hope we can get a space!

The "quarantine that never was" is almost certainly going to be removed on the 10th when the uk does not quarantine french nationals.

As an aside can someone post a link to the declaration form for returning to uk for me MisterB ?

suavecarve

it took us about 10 mins for each person, not very user friendly in my opinion

as an aside for info for others, we came back on the 29th, completed the form on line, UK border control were happy to accept just the reference number. we have been in self quarantine since we arrived back, lots to do and thank goodness for home delivery of 'bits' to do jobs with !

ps not one phone call, letter, visit etc from any 'authority'

pps in the absence of any direction, i will prob end my quarantine on the 10th ....., based on

You do not need to self-isolate if you’re travelling from an exempt country and have been in an exempt country for the last 14 days.

so it seems to suggests that it deemed france safe from 14 days prior to 10th July ......

When was this implemented/ dated. Is it still valid? Will it still be by the 19th?

not sure but UK border control do currently require it, and actually asked us for it,

remember its only for returning to the UK ....

i assume its only up to the 10th as its primarily only for checking re you are quarantining ....

We are booked to return, on the Eurotunnel on the 19th. Hopefully it's all changed again by then. Thanks

Please keep us posted but more importantly, enjoy the rest of your trip (y)

We returned on saturday 4th and at the tunnel british passport control asked if we had filled in the quarantine form. When we said yes do you want the reference number she just said no I trust you. And that was all that was asked, have to say that in the queue for boarding we were about the only british motor, I have never seen so many polish and romanian vans in the line.

thanks - yes i am going on a 3 week trip, all in August. Keep my eyes pealed on the 10th i guess...

Just in the lanes waiting to board. No paperwork asked for or questions asked. It's just like it usually is ..
