I'm a newbie
There was quite a few postings on here just recently recommending a certain make of camping chair and I cant find the thread. I suffer with dodgy knees and I'm looking for a chair that will support my 16 stone pushing down on the arms to get my bum out of the seat. Oh and while we're at it does anyone know an easy way to get off and onto a sunbed. If I cant find a tree to lay under and sling a rope over a branch I'm buggered

Most sunbeds are pretty flimsy. At home we have a heavy duty camp bed for the purpose. Its a bit heavy of course but being a bit higher and a lot more load bearing, getting on and off is just like getting into bed.

I’ve bought Isabella chairs and they’re light, robust and fantastic.
Others on here like Dukdalf chairs.
Both above do various types and designs and different weight limits.

As for Sun loungers, we bought the clip on leg rest extensions through Isabella so we have best of both worlds - but they don’t work for laying on your front as you’re in a recliner chair if you get my jist?

You can get them strong camping chairs that double up as a sun bed by just leaning backwards .I use them in the garden cannot remember the name of them but used to be about £60 each now down to about £50 for two .They fold flat and are ideal for what you want.(gravity folding )is the name ) Enjoy lol

my vote for isabella

No advice on chairs, but I can advise in getting up. The key is to get forward on the chair - if you look down and you can see the chair between your legs, wriggle forwards more. The bend your body FORWARDS before you push with your legs (your hands will be behind you) and bring your heels back to level with your bottom. If you look down, you should be looking directly at your feet. This means you can access your bottom muscles, rather than your thighs. They are bigger and stronger and put less pressure on your knees.

I’m not sure if this would work with a sun bed, they are so low! I’d suggest looking at something like the Lafuma recliner, which you can get up from a seat. It still isn’t going to be super-dignified, but you shouldn’t end up stuck. From a sun bed, I would be tempted to try rolling onto the floor on all fours, and going onto one knee, then up from there.

Let me know how you get on, happy to advise by pm if it’s helpful (ex physio!)

I think the OP was referring to the trampoline style Outdoor Revolution Ibiza...

Yes. Isabella here too. My only caveat being the colour, dark gets hot in the sun. But they have been good. There is (or was) 2 types of Isabella, one with “lace up” pads like lafauma and one fixed.

We've got these Broken Link Removed ours are plain blue. They are good to 150kg I think, nice thick tubular construction. The cheap £5 jobbies last me less than a day, I never have to carry them home.

Chairs are subjective things so it’s always best to try before you buy as I’ve found out to my cost over the years. We have ended up with Lafuma which are very well made, lightweight and comfortable. The one and only negative is the price everything thing else is perfect. If budget and space permits try the Lafuma Relaxation Chair Air Comfort, plus many more in the range. I also have some Helinox chairs which are super light and break down and store into little bags, perfect for days out.

We have the Outwell Grand Canyon but I'm not sure they are classed as folding chairs, you would not say carry then into a festival but for outside your van they are the most comfortable I've found

Having tried these at Go Outdoors we went for Outlook Kenai instead as the a better fit in our locker. Very comfy (both of them).

We like the pricey Lafuma chairs too.Work well up to 21 stone so far! Semi reclined and feet up level with heart is comfy

I recently bought pair of Dukdalf chairs with footrests from

Excellent service and the cheapest I could find after much searching and they came with free fast delivery.

Decided to go for a couple of Outwell Kenai chairs, slightly smaller/lighter than the Isabella Thor as they have an adjustable headrest that goes down when folded.

On offer at go outdoors so 2 for £130 and got the add on footrests online for under £50

We have the same and 'er indoors rates them highly, even for sunbathing.

I have found a PERFECT chair for me (suitable for the 'larger' figure) but they won't send it to Portugal... grrrrrrrrrrr.

Typical!

Well I've just bought one of these. Not cheap but superbly constructed and supremely comfortable. They also do an XL version (slightly more money). Sure I could have bought cheaper and I'm not saying it wouldn't be as good but once I parked myself in it, it was going home!

another chair thread great. Anyone else not too keen on the padded chairs, we really need to replace as ours, which got left outside and got wet, despite being sun dried next day, are going mouldy, can't see it but i can smell it and they are now affecting my chest. don't like fixed head rest either as they are always in the wrong spot for me. need to be good for dining and relaxing. tried one of those gravity things and got stuck trying to get out :ROFLMAO:

Isabella all day long for us ??
