I'm a Newbie
Wondering if anyone can help.

As a newbie all was going well but my fresh water pump now continually runs without pulling water through. It's supposed to be self priming but you don't see any sign of water coming through the inlet filter and the only way I could get anything to happen was by forcing water from my garden hose on the inlet and all was good but the next day when I switched the pump on again it just run continuous again. I made sure the inlet filter was clean and have checked for leaks!

I've started to resign myself I might need a new pump but FLO king is US made and doesn't appear easy to get hold of and the company who supplied it is Leisure Accessories of Norwich which don't appear to exist anymore! I've attached a photo of my one. Trying to find an equivalent the name Shurflo pops up and look very similar designs as would love to not have to change fixings etc. Is there a supplier of these pumps in the UK? It's a 12v DC, 20psi model and want to get things going asap.

Any heads up would be great.

If it ran ok when you had force primed it, I would be looking for an air leak on the inlet side before buying a replacement. A cracked cover or badly fitting gasket on the inlet filter are not unknown.

Agree 100% with our Pausim’s post above, you probably have a very small air leak on the suction side of your pump at one of the connections between the pump inlet and the water in the tank which is not allowing the pump to build up the required vacuum to lift the water from your fresh water tank. If after checking all connections the pump still does not self prime try disconnecting the suction pipework and connect the best non collapsible length of pipe you can find to the pump inlet and and place the other end into a bucket of water at about the same level as your fresh water tank to double check. Good Luck.

If your pump is still unable to lift water after connecting a hose directly to the pump and trying to suck water from a bucket it’s probably one of the inlet or outlet valves located in the pump head that is stuck open for some reason. Before spending money on a new pump have a play with a Phillips screwdriver and see what you can find and share with us to help others in the future.

I had a similar problem with my surflow pump.It was the diaphragm that had gone.i bought a replacement kit from LEISURE shop direct.have you checkedyour fresh water drain tap is fully closed.i one thought I had closed it and had same problem until I realised what I had done.

Agree with all the above. If you need spares try Marcle Leisure

I also noticed when researching this that one of the dealer websites stated that repair kits for Shurflow will fit. Stripping the pump is an easy job and you'll be able to check on the diaphragm and valves. It takes very little dirt on a valve to prevent it closing.
