Went to recommission the MH before a trip away next week. Had a leak from the Flojet connections. Took it out lubed the o-rings and put back together leak seemed to stop.

HOWEVER, the pump whilst running is barely pumping any water. After lots of fiddling about it is still not pumping. You can hear it running but no water comes out other than the occasional splutter.

So I took the expensive route (as we were about to go away) and bought a new pump. Still the same!! Pump runs but no water coming through.

I then blew through the feed pipe from tank to make sure there was no blockage - all clear.

Put my hand over the outlet pipe from pump and there is some pressure but I wouldn't describe it as huge. Nothing comes out of taps.

I am at a complete loss. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks
Chris

For how long did you let the pump run?
Is the flow from other taps o.k?
It can take a while to purge the air in the piping before achieving a steady stream.

Ten minutes - nothing from any of the taps.

Hmm. Presumably there's plenty of water in the tank.
It would seem that maybe air is being drawn in before or at the pump.
You'll always feel more water pressure than air pressure at the taps as it's designed to pump water (not less dense air).

Yup tank is full. have even tried to put water supply in jam jar full of water but to no avail. Unless 2nd pump is knackered as well.?

Could it be the the pump motor drive shaft is not turning the impeller and has sheared off?

EDIT, sorry! forgotten you had changed pumps???

Can the filters be blocked?

Is it a submersible pump or a free-standing Shurflo type with inlet and outlet spigots/pipes?

I know its obvious but is a drain valve open somewhere, particularly the auto frost protection on the boiler.

If it's a Shurflo this is their trouble-shooting info.......

the boiler dump valve is closed. Is there another one on the hot water tank somewhere? It seems to me that is probably something simple that simple me can't find.

But then again it didn't seem to draw water from a full jam jar even the pump sounded like it was working.
