I'd be grateful for any advice as to how to stop my Fiamma awning flapping.
It is relatively new (2 years) and when there is a mild wind, it gives a slow deep flap intermittently. Nothing damaging, but enough to disturb sleep.
Could it be a strained spring?
Is there an easy fix?

Thanks

Do you have/use the centre rafter? This could help improve things (if you're not already using one).

If you're not using sides then you may be better to roll in most of the awning when you're in bed or away from the van. The sides will (mostly) prevent the wind getting under and (on rare occasions) flipping the awning over the van.

Tend not to leave ours up overnight, it's just something else to pack away before moving on in the morning.

It always sounds a lot worse than it is if you do leave it up but always gives me a bit of a worry in the night if I do leave it out.

Once fully wound out I tend to then wind back in a few inches to make sure it is taut and then I have some really strong tie downs I use to make sure it isn't going anwywhere as long as we aren't just staying over night.

Wind it in at night - good advice!

I am having my 5m Fiamma awning replaced next week - the van is only 3 months old.....

Forgot to use the tie downs and didn't leave a fall to one side.... wind and rain storm hit it.

ÂŁ1400 expensive lesson......

We used to have a 3 m awning, now 5 m. It now takes 2 to put it out and take in, safely, and it also flaps when in gentle breeze. We take in at night but would be happier with the shorter one for those times when a bit of shade needed. We don't bother with it now unless on a particularly calm sunny day.
