Hi
I have a Mikuni MY 16 Diesel Heater and as the van has been parked up last couple of years with Covid19 situation, this summer I found the diesel heater wouldnt turn on. It whirs up for a couple of seconds and thats it.

The flashing light on the control panel flashes 2 times which indicates; "Flame sensor burnt out".
Randomly one of the dozen times I tried turning it on, the diesel heater did actually come on and worked fine. Turned it off, tried it again and nothing. Still nothing.
So is this an easy fix?
Is a flame sensor just another word for the thermocouple, same thing as in the gas stove, that senses when the flame is lit?

Thanks

I have a good knowledge of the Chinese diesel heaters but I have had nothing to do with the Mikuni heaters.

A Google search came up with this Southampton based company that stocks spare for your Mikuni heater, so it could be worth giving them a ring to see if they can shine some light on your problem.

If it worked fine before you stopped using it, I can't see how it could "burn out" and maybe it's just a corroded/poor connection or you haven't had mice nibbling at wires have you ?
Just looked at ToT's link, for the price of a flame sensing unit, you could buy 3 complete replacement Chinese heaters (I've been running one for two years now to heat my workshop).
