Hi, my apologies if I've missed this thread but I probably did a "man look", I think I'd like to fit both a larger fresh and hot water storage system. We've now had our Ace Modena for a week now and yesterday I looked through everything, under seats and floors to check the sizes of the water tanks. Our fresh looks like an under slung plastic tank of about 60 litres and the Truma hot water tank looks like 10 litres.
There's plenty of space under the settee next to the Truma to store more, has anyone done this or is it easier to have a sponge bath?

Providing you have the payload a cheaper option to carry more water would be some collapsible water can’s carried in the shower tray when moving

Do you have the spare payload? Every extra litre will weigh an extra kilogram.

Why do you need more?

The easy option with the tank is to fit a second tank, would agree 60 lt is very small our last van had a small 100Lt tank I used to carry 2 x 20 Lt containers in the garage.
The 10Lt Truma boiler is plenty for two showers.

We have spare payload, but I was comparing motorhome life to house life where we have unlimited cold water and around 200 litres of hot! In reality I think my wife will have to wash her hair on a campsite with showers! I could make do with a bucket and a stirrup pump

Try telling Mrs CC that😂😂
She still ends up with a cold shower at the end😂😂
Is that because you get in first and use it all;) with the Alde on boost we can get two back to back basically, I go second as it's my job to dry and polish the shower afterwards:giggle: of course if we both go in together it doesn't last any longer but uses less water(y):ROFLMAO:

Obviously being a gentleman I let Mrs CC go first😁
We have it pretty sussed now, press boost give it 5 minutes Mrs CC has shower gives me the signal when out and I press boost again.
Mrs CC comes out all refreshed and I then have shower😁
Only downside is I end up having to clean the shower every time ☹️☹️
We still do get the odd time with the Alde that when we run a tap to wash up it goes cold after a few litres have come out?

I wouldn't bother trying to fit a larger tank ,just get hold of a couple of 10 litre plastic Gerry cans and use those to top up..change your shower head Tina finer spray with a trigger so you can turn,it off between sprays.you don't need to spend 10 mins in a shower to get clean.as for hair washing ,just use the sink and a bowl or 2 of water..

It's doubtful you could fit a second hot tank.
The heating element/gas burner is integral to the existing tank and there's no easy way to get from the boiler to a second tank
The only other way would be replace it with an American RV furnace.....either 6 or 10 US GALLON.......but the cost just wouldn't be worth it

I fitted a 200L poo tank on our Pedro 33 boat. I used a company called Tek-tanks. They have a large selection of standard & custom made tanks & all the fittings you will ever need

On our last motorhome we had 125 litres and used to carry extra in the garage area with water carriers. Luckily our current motorhome has enough water tanks not to do that.
But is it worth the extra work fitting another tank when 2 water carriers would give you 50 liters

Not much point if you don't fit a larger grey water tank as you'll have to stop to empty it, so you may as well top up your existing fresh water tank at the same time.

Have a sailor's shower. Turn on the shower and wet yourself all over. Switch off shower and soap up (shower gel is better than soap). Then switch shower back on and rinse off. We can easily get 2 showers 10 minutes apart from our Alde system. And wife washes her hair every few days.

I recommend you get an Ecocamel shower head. It has a venturi effect which mixes air with the water, which saves water whilst still giving you the feeling of a strong flow

Use it for a few trips first before you start any work on it, you will modify how you use water to save it. Carrying more water means fuel used carrying it and less payload for carrying hairdryers and clothes😉😉

I looked into fitting larger tanks but as Spriddler said it would only be worth it if I could do the same to the grey tank as well.
The simple solution has been to carry a 20 litre fresh water container and a 20 litre waste water container. This gives us an extra day off grid and a means of draining the grey tank on site rather than moving to the drain point.

I have been used to 100-120l tanks which can last us 5 days with two showers every day. Just have to be a bit sensible about water usage. Agree 60l is a bit small, presumably to increase payload, though you reckon you have plenty.

You have to modify the way you use water in a Motorhome!

We’ll be launching our range of dehydrated water tablets soon, designed to reduce payload issues (I think the launch is just about two and a half weeks away)

in essence we’ll be selling them in 25L, 50L and the biggy at 100L

With payload an issue on so many motorhomes these could be a Godsend.

Easy to use, simply select the size most sensible to your water tank capacity, unwrap the dehydrated water tablet, pop it in the tank and rehydrate

We recommend a hose or watering can from a convenient tap to do this.

Is that coming on sale on 1st April by any chance 😉

Can I get my order in for 1st April?
edit. My reply beaten by Manic. Strange that I quoted Eddies post, but my reply quoted Manic’s - must have been the timing.🤔

I had an Ace Moderna... never found the tank too small, but then I use a trigger shower head, and there's only me

The tank IIRC has access inside, via a hatch in the floor and a nice big cap

So for convenience, effectiveness and vfm - I'd go down the couple of jerrycans route
Keeping an eye on payload of course... as again IIRC, maximum weight is 3300kg not 3500kg

I notice you do not give any weights of the tablets, the 100ltr one must weigh a ton, do they have to be towed in a trailer???
