You only have to look on some of the american sites about the dometic recall, the 'fix' doesnt actually fix the root cause of the problem it may stop the fridge catching fire, some of these fridges had 354watt heating elements fitted which turned out to be too powerful and under the right(or wrong) conditions may cause the cooling unit to crack in the burner area, all of the later fridges have 325 watt elements fitted, the actual likelyhood of a fire occuring is very unlikely(according to Dometic). Also according to dometic only 0.01% of the fridges with the potential problem actually do have a problem. If the cooling unit does fail it will only catch fire if it is running on gas and the cooling unit develops a large enough crack. The fix consists of fitting various shields and thermal fuses which stop a fire but will not stop the cooling unit cracking. As far as I know the recall is only applicable in North America. I have one to do in april, the owner managed to get the kit from Dometic in america after a fair bit of aggro.
