Fire at Morrisons Doncaster.

It appears to be an American RV, so it may have been using LPG for motive use?

Looks like a self build type camper, rock and roll style bed in rear.
Fire looks to be centred around engine to front cab area?

Possible an older transit from pictures.

Probably cause Morrisons to pull the plug on lpg at thier forecourts.

Judging by the drone footage video it looks like it's a low top home conversion ... I can't tell from that though whether it was near an LPG pump or not.

Shell at Fontwell West Sussex had a fire related to a motorhome lpg filling - stopped the supply from then on.

Just so people can see what van it was, driver sounds like is ok after taken to hospital for minor injuries

Last one was Morrisons at Wellingborough, caused by someone filling an exchange Calor type cylinder.
We get idiots at our pump with their gas fridges still lit 🔥, but then certain manufacturers actually put the LPG filler next to the fridge vent on some vans .
So many companies selling the kits and components to connect up pretty much anything,
it’s only a matter of time before someone is killed ⚠️

Gas fridge shouldn't light until 15 minutes passed to allow for fuelling etc.

As others have said, this shall only make it harder, they are bound to impose further restrictions at their sites. They obviously need to give better training to staff, sounds like the member of staff went into panic mode and lost all control. His first actions should have been to kill the pumps, call 999, then if possible evacuate the site. The eye witness in the report mentions damage to his car. If it were me the first thing I would have done is get my car and myself to safety.

Along those lines, better staff training!
Why not actually have the staff inspect the vehicle first before switching the pump on to dispense the fuel.

Might save a few issues

Would be interesting to read the official report about what was being filled and what the root cause was. Regrettably, that shall probably never be shared and blanket policies implemented.

The motorist involved said he thought he could smell gas on the forecourt before he went in to pay. He was parked near to the van that was the cause of the blaze.

And here is a more scary one where someone is trying to use a petrol pump hose as a torch at a morrisons station.
Sorry its on faceache

Technically that should happen but you couldn’t train forecourt staff to that level of competence to recognise anything not quite right .
They also wouldn’t have the time needed .

That’s only on certain fridges , plenty of them just stay burning until manually switched off.
Especially those used as donors for self builds as they are usually older units from scrapper caravans.
Add that to the influx of people getting “camper” vans who are less well versed in these things and you have potential for any outcome.
