camping and caravanning since a kid. New to motorhomes
yes, finally put a deposit on my first motorhome. a 2016 Pilote P716 sensation. Uprated to 3850Kg with rear air suspension, so should have a decent payload.

over the years have camped, caravanned, toured on motorbikes and now going to be a motorhomer.

Still in shock at how much I've just spent :oops:. LOL, but looking forward to collecting it and having some new fantastic adventures.

Congratulations I’m sure you won’t regret it!
Thanks Steve

agree pretty certain I won't.

The plan had always been to retire then buy a car and caravan to tour Europe. Then some friends bought a motorhome and spent 4 months in Europe. It even got the boss suggesting we go down that route.

so planning on starting to slow down to retirement and spend a couple of 4 to 5 week long ventures a year.

Even given up the SLK to help fund it. But of course the motorbike remains, just as it should be, never sell the bike ;);)

just need a scooter and a way to carry it now........

Watling Towbars, St Albans 👍 the rack goes straight onto the chassis rails so is strong. It can be removed with 4 bolts and it slots off. Was about 900 quid.

Ann prefers the scooter though 🙄

looks great. Would have to be a scooter for me as my bike is an R1250RT, so a bit too heavy for the rear axle.

The van has a tow bar fitted.

So did you get your knob sorted out? ::bigsmile: ::bigsmile:

As I mentioned before our first van was a Pilote 716 and we were very happy with it!

We were also worried about the initial outlay but once you start using it you will soon forget about the cash and start enjoying the freedom it gives you! Enjoy!! (y)

thanks mate.

When I checked the van out. The spindle and its operation were sound. No issues or suggestion of any other fault.

So for the knob...... both the repair companies suggested said its not supplied separately and would need a new unit. However, another funster suggested RS components. So when I get the van I will look at sourcing something that fits and can be secured.

I’m sure you’ll soon be forgetting about the initial outlay once you’re out and about in it.

am sure I will. Looking forward to it.

have a ferry booked (booking carry over from 2020) from Newcastle to Ijmuiden in September for 4 weeks. Had hedged my bets that I may find a van before then and so booked a van place, so glad I have. Although, if not then I would ahave transferred it over to the bike. How different

also it now means I wont be camping at Download festival in June.:cool:

Hope you create many happy memories in your new van.

A man after my own heart! Depending on your payload you could get a scooter rack or a trailer. We carry a Honda Vision 110 cc on the back and two ebikes in the garage so all bases covered!

congratulations i wouldn't assume that you have the payload for a scooter even after an upgrade only way to be sure is to get it weighed by the dealer before going any further an upgrade to gross weight doesn't usually upgrade the axle weight limit and a scooter hung out on the rear increases the loading more than the weight of the scooter and rack due to the fulcrum effect on the loading
You need to know the weight limit for the rear axle of the van nthe length of the overhang and the weight of the scooter and rack your planning to use ,there are tables available to work out what that will add
im not trying to wee on your chips but to stop you buying a van thats not suitable for your needs

Sound advice, thanks.

Where I am planning on storing it has a weighbridge. So very handy. Will see what is possible when I have it loaded up for touring.
I suspect that it will be a trailer that is required. No rush though at the moment.

Well done.

Is it already fitted with air suspension and uprated, or is that what you have ordered to be done?

I am surprised that a 2016 Pilote was not able to be done to 3850kg as a paper excercise.

Anyway enjoy it

It’s already got the rear air on it and registered with DVLA at 3850kg.

The Duke 890R is only 170kg 👌😎
...and must be infinitely preferable to riding a fractionally overgrown moped!

I *know* that scooters are the sensible choice, and they do a million mpg, and you can store your helmet under the seat, and they're cheap, and they're light, blah blah blah - but if you're into your bikes - No, just no! ;)

seems I’m following inline 😏 , I have a SH125i for the MoHo which I love but Recently bought a 9 month old duke 390 because it is light & fits in my garage , would have much preferred the duke 690 that trev bigtree was selling but the 390 better suited the MoHo , bought it 5 weeks ago & still haven’t insured it yet lol

Great news about you joining the clan enjoy your new MH.

I had one of those 390 Dukes a great bike but never used it for the van the wife would not go on the back😩 swapped it out for a BMW 750gs a great bike😁 and that’s way to heavy for the back of the van.
